IOWA CITY, Iowa – All 11 Flyers scored in Dayton's 78-47 win over UT Martin Friday at the Hawkeye Challenge at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Dayton shot 50.9 percent, while holding UT Martin to just 23.3 percent shooting from the field.
Senior
Andrea Hoover led UD with 14 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor. Fellow senior
Ally Malott added 13 points and shot 57 percent from the field. Sophomore
Saicha Grant-Allen chipped in nine points and five rebounds. Junior
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova had 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. The 10 boards were just one off her career high.
UD jumped out to a 43-27 lead at the half and never looked back. The Skyhawks scored first but Hoover's three at the 19:22 mark put the Flyers up, and UD held onto the lead the remainder of the game. Dayton led by as many as 18 in the first half on Hoover's fast break layup with 44 seconds left in the half. UT Martin's Jessy Ward was fouled with .2 seconds left in the half and hit both her free throws to cut the deficit to 16.
The Flyers held the Skyhawks to just five made field goals in the first half. However, 14 of UTM's 27 first-half points came at the free throw line.
The Flyers held the Skyhawks scoreless for eight minutes to start the second half. UT Martin's first points came on a free throw with 11:57 left to play. The Skyhawks didn't hit their field goal until the 10:45 mark of the second half.

The Flyers (1-2) will play in the championship game of the Hawkeye Challenge Saturday, Nov. 22 at 8:30 p.m. ET and will face the winner of the Iowa/Pepperdine game.
