Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Dayton men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to La Salle on Friday night in Atlantic 10 action.
The Flyers entered the contest needing a win to clinch a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, but La Salle is also fighting for a postseason berth.
Dayton controlled the pace of the game early on and started blanketing the La Salle goal with shots throughout the first 45 minutes.
It would be the host Explorers that would strike first however as La Salle's Matt Robinson delivered a free kick with 11 seconds remaining in the half to the back of the net, giving the Explorers a 1-0 lead.
Dayton out-shot La Salle 9-4 in the first half and put three shots on target, but could not finish in the final third of the field. La Salle attempted to battle the Flyers in the midfield and committed eight fouls in the first 45 minutes.
The second half continued to see Dayton attack La Salle offensively, and kept applying the pressure on the Explorer defense.
Unfortunately, the Flyers were unable to get on the scoreboard and fell to La Salle, 1-0.
Dayton totaled 14 shots in the game, seven of which were on goal, while being fouled 17 times by the Explorers.
The Flyers (6-6-5, 2-3-2 A-10) will finish up the regular season at Saint Joseph's on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
