Dyshawn Pierre tallied 18 points and five assists and
Devin Oliver added 12 points and six rebounds as the Dayton Flyers saw its magical tournament run come to an end with a 62-52 loss to the No. 1 Florida Gators.
Oliver and Pierre were named to the NCAA South All-Region team.
Matt Kavanaugh had six points and eight rebounds as the Flyers were held to a season-low 52 points.
Making its first Elite 8 appearance since 1984, the Flyers were limited offensively shooting 40 percent from the field. Dayton was out-rebounded 37-26 and allowed 12 Gator offensive rebounds.
Florida used a 15-1 run in the final 4:23 of the first half to take a 38-24 lead to the locker room. The Gators had a double-digit lead for most of the second half as well.
But Dayton slowly chipped away and cut the deficit to 58-50 with 2:37 remaining. The Flyers had chances to move closer, but committed a foul, missed a field goal and turned the ball over in the following three possessions.
Dayton finishes the season 26-11 overall. The 26 wins were the third-most in the program's history.
