DAYTON, Ohio - Dayton volleyball is hosting a mid-week match this week as it welcomes former Atlantic 10 foe Xavier to Frericks Center on Tuesday. The Flyers will be recognizing the program's 11 All-Americans prior to the match, including the Musketeers' assistant coach Christy Utnage Pfeffenberger. 

About Xavier
Xavier heads into Tuesday night's match with a 6-3 record on the season after dropping two of three matches played at home this past weekend. The Musketeers swept Syracuse but dropped a straight-set loss to Ohio. Xavier went five sets with Ohio State but fell, 3-2, to the Buckeyes. The Musketeers are led by Abbey Bessler who averages 3.31 kills/set while Aubree Smith serves as the team's primary setter with 8.81 assist/set.

Series Stuff
• Xavier is Dayton's most-played opponent of all time with the Flyers owning the 52-25 advantage in the series between the two programs.
• The series began in 1971, and the Flyers and Musketeers squared off three times in 2012 before Xavier joined the Big East prior to the 2013 season.
• Dayton has won the last four meetings in the series, including a 3-2 win over Xavier in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship finals. In addition to four-straight  wins, UD also has won eight of the last nine matches and 13 of the last 15 meetings.

• Tim Horsmon is in his sixth season overall, and first since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2014. His record at Dayton is 134-46, and his overall win-loss mark sits at 310-210 in 16 seasons as a head coach.
• The Flyers have won four of their last five matches and two of the team's six wins have been straight-set sweeps.
• Dayton returned three of its top five kills producers from a year ago, including junior Jill Loiars who ranked second on the team in 2013 with 258 kills. Senior Isolde Hannan had the team's top returning hitting percentage (.283) and blocks total (119, 1.31/set - both ranked second on the squad last season).
• Last year, UD finished the season ranked fifth in the nation in blocks/set (3.0) and Isolde Hannan was ranked 38th nationally with 1.31 blocks/set. Dayton led the A-10 in blocks/set and ranked second in service aces (1.40) and opponent hitting percentage (.172). 
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 10 times (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title eight times (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and have made nine NCAA appearances in program history.

13th to 1,000
With two wins at the season-opening Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,004-563 over 44 seasons (1970).

Also Passing 1,000
Junior libero Janna Krafka has also reached 1,000 ... career digs. With her 33 digs at the BGSU Hampton Inn Invitational, she reached the 1,000-dig mark for her career. With 1,107 career digs, Krafka now ranks fifth all-time in the UD career record book. She is 322 digs behind Cathy Wojciechowski (1990-93) who ranks fourth with 1,429 career digs.

Krafka, Erhahon Named to Cleveland State Invite All-Tournament Team
Junior Janna Krafka and freshman Amber Erhahon were named to the 2014 Cleveland State Invitational All-Tournament Team after outstanding performances. Krafka averaged 5.64 digs/set over the weekend and also moved into fifth place all-time for career digs in the UD record book. Erhahon earned her first career start against Navy and recorded 2.57 kills/set and 1.29 blocks/set over Dayton's three matches.

Turner Earns Second All-Tourney Nod at Flyer-Raider Invitational
Junior Alaina Turner earned her second-consecutive appointment to an all-tournament team last weekend for her play at the Flyer-Raider Invitational. She averaged 4.33 kills/set and 2.83 digs/set, including a career-high-tying 22 kills and 14 digs in Dayton's 3-1 win over Bakersfield.

Hannan, Turner Tabbed for All-Tourney Squad at BGSU
For their play at the Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, senior Isolde Hannan and junior Alaina Turner were named to the All-Tournament Team. Hannan finished the weekend with 10 total blocks and hit at a blistering .414 with 14 kills for the Flyers. Turner was the team's leading attacker, averaging 4.30 kills/set (43) while also getting under 2.10 digs/set and recording seven blocks.

UD Picked Third in A-10 Preseason Poll
Dayton has been chosen to finish in third place in the Atlantic 10 for 2014. The Flyers, winners of four of the last five A-10 titles, tallied 78 points in voting among the league's head coaches as announced by the conference office Aug. 20. Defending champion Duquesne was selected to win the title, receiving eight first-place votes.

Up Next
Following Tuesday's mid-week match against Xavier, Dayton will be traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, to take part in the North Florida Invitational co-hosted by North Florida and Jacksonville. UD will square off against another former Atlantic 10 opponent in Charlotte Friday at UNF followed by a match against Jacksonville at JU's Swisher Gym. On Saturday, Dayton will face North Florida at UNF Arena and then Nicholls State at Jacksonville.
