DAYTON, Ohio - Dayton volleyball is hosting a mid-week match this week as it welcomes former Atlantic 10 foe Xavier to Frericks Center on Tuesday. The Flyers will be recognizing the program's 11 All-Americans prior to the match, including the Musketeers' assistant coach Christy Utnage Pfeffenberger.
About XavierXavier heads into Tuesday night's match with a 6-3 record on the season after dropping two of three matches played at home this past weekend. The Musketeers swept Syracuse but dropped a straight-set loss to Ohio. Xavier went five sets with Ohio State but fell, 3-2, to the Buckeyes. The Musketeers are led by Abbey Bessler who averages 3.31 kills/set while Aubree Smith serves as the team's primary setter with 8.81 assist/set.
Series Stuff• Xavier is Dayton's most-played opponent of all time with the Flyers owning the 52-25 advantage in the series between the two programs.
• The series began in 1971, and the Flyers and Musketeers squared off three times in 2012 before Xavier joined the Big East prior to the 2013 season.
• Dayton has won the last four meetings in the series, including a 3-2 win over Xavier in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship finals. In addition to four-straight wins, UD also has won eight of the last nine matches and 13 of the last 15 meetings.

13th to 1,000With two wins at the season-opening Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,004-563 over 44 seasons (1970).

Janna Krafka has also reached 1,000 ... career digs. With her 33 digs at the BGSU Hampton Inn Invitational, she reached the 1,000-dig mark for her career. With 1,107 career digs, Krafka now ranks fifth all-time in the UD career record book. She is 322 digs behind Cathy Wojciechowski (1990-93) who ranks fourth with 1,429 career digs.

Amber Erhahon were named to the 2014 Cleveland State Invitational All-Tournament Team after outstanding performances. Krafka averaged 5.64 digs/set over the weekend and also moved into fifth place all-time for career digs in the UD record book. Erhahon earned her first career start against Navy and recorded 2.57 kills/set and 1.29 blocks/set over Dayton's three matches.

Turner Earns Second All-Tourney Nod at Flyer-Raider InvitationalJunior
Alaina Turner earned her second-consecutive appointment to an all-tournament team last weekend for her play at the Flyer-Raider Invitational. She averaged 4.33 kills/set and 2.83 digs/set, including a career-high-tying 22 kills and 14 digs in Dayton's 3-1 win over Bakersfield.

Alaina Turner were named to the All-Tournament Team. Hannan finished the weekend with 10 total blocks and hit at a blistering .414 with 14 kills for the Flyers. Turner was the team's leading attacker, averaging 4.30 kills/set (43) while also getting under 2.10 digs/set and recording seven blocks.
UD Picked Third in A-10 Preseason PollDayton has been chosen to finish in third place in the Atlantic 10 for 2014. The Flyers, winners of four of the last five A-10 titles, tallied 78 points in voting among the league's head coaches as announced by the conference office Aug. 20. Defending champion Duquesne was selected to win the title, receiving eight first-place votes.
Up NextFollowing Tuesday's mid-week match against Xavier, Dayton will be traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, to take part in the North Florida Invitational co-hosted by North Florida and Jacksonville. UD will square off against another former Atlantic 10 opponent in Charlotte Friday at UNF followed by a match against Jacksonville at JU's Swisher Gym.
