DAYTON, Ohio –  The University of Dayton women's soccer team improved to 4-5-1 with its second consecutive shutout, a 2-0 victory over Toledo (3-4-1) Sunday afternoon at Baujan Field. The Flyers are 4-0-0 this season when playing at home. 

Freshman Alexis Kiehl scored just 17 seconds into the match to get the Flyers on the board early. Off the kickoff, she beat two defenders, tipped the ball past the goalkeeper, hurdled the keeper and finished to put UD up 1-0 in the first minute. It marked her second goal of the season. 

That score held up at the half. Dayton had 12 shots while Toledo tallied seven in the first half with the wind at its back. 

The Flyers had the wind at their backs in the second half and outshot the Rockets 15-2 in that period. For the match, UD had 27 shots, including 15 shots on goal. Toledo had nine attempts, with four shots on goal (all taken on free kicks by goalkeeper Sam Tiongson).

Dayton struck again in the 75th minute on the combination play of twin sisters Alexis and Kaitlynn Kiehl, with a diving, one touch finish by sophomore Erin O'Malley, marking her third goal of the season. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth James had two saves in 9:44 minutes of action. Sophomore Jenna DiTusa had two saves in 80:16 minutes on the pitch for UD.

Dayton closes out the non-conference portion of its season at Oklahoma State this Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. ET. The Flyers open Atlantic 10 Conference action at home on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. at Baujan Field. The UD men's team will host Davidson in its A-10 opener following the women's match. Admission to both matches is free.
