HOOVER LEADS ALL SCORERS WITH 24 IN #UDWBB'S 75-56 WIN AT VCU

Three Flyers Posted Double-Digits Scoring, Cornelie-Sigmundova with the Double-Double

RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Dayton women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 75-56 win at VCU Saturday afternoon. Senior Andrea Hoover led all scorers with 24 points and junior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova recorded a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Also for the Flyers, senior Ally Malott scored 18 points grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists and swatted two shots. Hoover narrowly missed the double-double with nine rebounds and junior Amber Deane chipped in nine points, all in the second half.

Dayton (14-4, 5-1 A-10) pushed its second-half lead to double-digits after a Hoover layup gave the Flyers the 44-33 advantage just over four minutes. VCU (13-7, 4-3 A-10) would get no closer than to within seven the rest of the way.

VCU got on the board first in the first half but Dayton quickly used a 9-1 run to jump out to the 9-3 advantage just under four minutes into the game. The Rams were able to pull even with the Flyers at 17-all but Dayton put together a 13-2 run to open its lead to 30-19. At the half, UD was up eight, 34-26, and Hoover led all scorers with 15 points.

The Rams were led by Camille Calhoun with 12 points to go with eight rebounds while Adaeze Alaeze chipped in 10 points for VCU.

The Flyers return to action (and Richmond) on Wednesday with a mid-week Atlantic 10 matchup with the Richmond Spiders. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. at UR's Robins Center for the Spiders' School Day game.
