DAYTON– F ive Flyers scored in double-figures to lead the University of Dayton over the Duquesne Dukes 81-55 in both team's Atlantic 10 conference opener. UD won its 13th straight home game and improved 11-2 overall (1-0 Atlantic 10) on the season. With the loss, Duquesne drops to 5-7 (0-1 Atlantic 10).

For the first time this season, and the first time since Dec. 8, 2012 vs. Miami (OH), Dayton had all five starters score in double-figures.

The Flyers, who played with a seven-man rotation, were led in scoring by
Kyle Davis with a career-high with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.
Scoochie Smith also registered career-highs of 16 points and eight assists (with just one turnover). In his last four games, Smith has 22 assists with just two turnovers.

Jordan Sibert shot 5-of-8 from beyond the arc en route to 16 points to go along with a career-high eight rebounds.
Dyshawn Pierre also chipped in 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and eight rebounds.
Kendall Pollard tallied 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field.

Overall, Dayton shot 56.6% (30-of-53) from the field while holding the Dukes to 34.4% (21-of-61) from the field. UD shot 38.5% (10-of-26) from the three while holding Duquesne to 20.8% (5-of-24) from beyond the arc. Dayton's 80 points and 56.6% from the field were season highs. UD had 21 assists on 30 buckets.Â

With the score tied at 17 with 7:32 left in the first half, Dayton went on a huge run to take control of the game. UD closed the half on a 22-5 run, which included five Flyer three-pointers. Dayton went into the locker room with a 39-22 advantage.

Dayton did not let the margin get any closer than 15 points in the second half. UD increased their lead to 23 points (67-44) with 9:20 left in the game after a three-pointer by Sibert. The Flyers took a 77-53 lead after a lay-up by Smith with 4:55 remaining. Dayton ended the game with their largest advantage of 26 points (81-55) after a free throw by Pollard with 3:35 left in the game.
The Dukes' starting backcourt of Derrick Colter and Micah Mason came into the game first and 25th nationally in three-point field goal percentage, but UD's perimeter defense held them to a combined 1-for-11 from beyond the arc.
Jeremiah Jones led Duquesne with 10 points.
The Flyers travel to Olean, N.Y. to take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in their next game on Thursday Jan. 8. Tip-off from the Reilly Center is scheduled for 7 pm ET and the game can be seen nationally on the CBS Sports Network.
