#UDVB HEADED TO CINCI TO SQUARE OFF WITH XAVIER WEDNESDAY

Flyers Taking on Musketeers in Mind-Week, Non-Conference Tilt

DAYTON, Ohio - With two wins over the weekend, Dayton volleyball is currently enjoying a 13-match winning streak and boasts a perfect 8-0 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers are stepping out of conference play for a mid-week match-up with the Xavier Musketeers in Cincinnati. Dayton is led by senior Alaina Turner with 4.47 kills/set (1st A-10, 14th NCAA) and 0.44 service aces/set (3rd A-10) while sophomore Jane Emmenecker sets 11.39 assists/set (1st A-10, 14th NCAA). Defensively, sophomore Amber Erhahon tallies 1.24 blocks/set (2nd A-10) and senior Janna Krafka passes 3.96 digs/set (3rd A-10).

About Xavier
Xavier (10-9, 6-3 Big East) split its weekend matches at Cintas Center with a 3-1 win over Georgetown and a 3-1 loss to Creighton. At 6-3 in Big East play, the Musketeers are tied for third place in league standings. XU is led offensively by Abbey Bessler with 3.85 kills/set and McKena Estes with 5.40 assists/set. On the defensive side, Meredith Klare gets under 4.17 digs/set and Lauren Frilling is the team's leading blocker with 0.76/set.

Series Stuff
One of the Flyers' most-played opponents, Dayton and Xavier have previously met 78 times dating back to Oct. 1971. The Flyers' hold a commanding 53-25 advantage in the all-time series and UD has won the last five meetings. The two last squared off on Sept. 16, 2014 as the Flyers claimed a 3-2 win over the Musketeers at Frericks Center.

RPI Rankings
Dayton heads into Friday's match holding a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) ranking of 46 according to ncaa.com. Xavier's RPI is 86.

Flyer Facts
• Tim Horsmon is in his seventh season overall, and second since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2015. His record at Dayton is 173-54 and his career win-loss mark sits at 349-218 in 17 seasons as a head coach.
• With 14.29 kills/set (15th NCAA) as a team, Dayton leads the Atlantic 10. The Flyers also lead the A-10 in hitting percentage (.283, ninth NCAA), opponent hitting percentage (.173) and assists/set (13.18, 25th NCAA) and rank second in digs/set (14.35) and service aces/set (1.60).
• Individually, senior Alaina Turner ranks first in the A-10 with 4.47 kills/set (14th NCAA) while sophomore Jane Emmenecker is first in the league with 11.39 assists/set (14th NCAA) and sophomore Amber Erhahon ranks first with a .359 hitting percentage. Also among the top 10 in the league are:
Erhahon, 1.24 blocks/set (2nd); senior Jenna Jendryk, .351 hitting percentage (3rd); senior Janna Krafka, 3.96 digs/set (3rd); Turner, 0.44 aces/set (3rd); Krafka, 0.33 aces/set (8th).
• Over the last seven seasons (2009-2015), the Flyers have recorded an 86-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• For the 2015 season, Dayton returns the 2014 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in senior Alaina Turner, the A-10 Setter of the Year in sophomore Jane Emmenecker and the A-10 Libero of the Year in senior Janna Krafka.
• The Flyers finished the 2014 season with a 30-6 overall record and with a 13-1 Atlantic 10, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2014 was the program's third 30-win season of the modern-DI era.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record nine times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 10th NCAA appearance in program history in 2014.

Moving up the Ranks
With 1,331 career kills, senior Alaina Turner is moving up the ranks in UD's record book. She's just 170 kills away from usurping former Flyer All-American Rachel Krabacher who currently holds the number-five slot with 1,500 kills. Currently in second place on the all-time career digs list (1,837), senior Janna Krafka is only 234 digs away from become Dayton's new career digs record holder, replacing Adrienne Green (2,070).

You "Kill" Me (through matches on Oct. 18)
With 4.47 kills/set, senior Alaina Turner ranks 14th in the NCAA while scoring 5.26 points/set which comes in at ninth in the nation. The A-10's leading attacker, Turner ranks 40th nationally with 11.35 attacks/set, 64th with 817 total attacks and 31st with 322 total kills. For her career, Turner ranks 19th among active NCAA DI players with 1,331 career kills. Oh, and did we mention she serves up 0.44 aces/set which is good for 24th nationally?

13th to 1,000
With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,043-562 (.649) over 46 seasons (1970).

Second Weekly A-10 Honor for Turner
When you average 5.50 kills/set over two straight/set wins, the conference office recognizes you as Player of the Week! Senior Alaina Turner picked up her second weekly award from the A-10 on Monday, Oct. 12 after leading Dayton to back-to-back three-set wins over George Mason and George Washington. In the win against the Colonials, Turner recorded 20 kills to go with nine digs - narrowly missing her ninth double-double of the season.

UD Picked First in 2015 A-10 Preseason Poll
Dayton has been chosen to finish in first place in the Atlantic 10 for 2015. The Flyers, winners of five of the last six A-10 titles, tallied 88 points in voting among the league's head coaches (including eight of 10 first-place votes). George Washington was selected to finish second.

Third A-10 Award for Erhahon
Sophomore middle blocker Amber Erhahon earned her third Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday, Oct. 5 as announced by the conference office. She averaged 1.62 blocks/set over two wins for the Flyers Oct. 2 and 4, including a career-high nine blocks against Rhode Island on Sunday.

In its only Atlantic 10 match of the week, Dayton will play host to second-place Saint Louis on Saturday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at Frericks Center and admission is free.
