Flyers two Play Two on the Road

DAYTON, Ohio - Dayton (18-5, 9-0 A-10) had a single mid-week match on Tuesday as it played host to Eastern Kentucky at Frericks Center. The Flyers took a 3-0 win over the Colonels extending the program's winning streak to 16 matches. UD is the only remaining unbeaten team in the A-10 and is in first place in league standings. The Flyers are led by Alaina Turner with 4.36 kills/set (1st A-10) and 0.42 aces/set (2nd A-10) along with Amber Erhahon who is hitting at a league-best .390. Janna Krafka passes 4.07 digs/set (2nd A-10) and Erhahon is the team's leading blocker with 1.31 blocks/set (2nd A-10).

About Rhode Island
Rhode Island (16-6, 6-3 A-10) heads into this weekend in third place in the Atlantic 10 standings. The Rams have won four straight and five of its last six matches, including a 3-2 win at George Washington on Oct. 23. URI's Franki Darnold leads the team and ranks third in the A-10 with 3.83 kills/set while Layne Self's .362 hitting percentage is second in the league. Defensively, the Rams' Marie Gillcrist records 1.07 blocks/set (5th A-10) and Audrey Castro is the team's leading passer with 2.94 digs/set (10th A-10).

About Fordham
On Friday, Fordham (8-18, 2-7 A-10) will square off against Saint Louis before welcoming Dayton to Rose Hill Gym on Saturday. The Rams are currently suffering through a four-match skid and they have lost seven of their last eight contests. Breanna Jones is the squad's leading attacker with 2.83 kills/set (9th A-10) and Emily Fronk sets 8.31 assists/set (9th A-10)., Olivia LaPorta is the team's top blocker with 0.81 blocks/set and Brennan Delsing passes 2.56 digs/set for Fordham.

Series Stuff
URI: Dayton leads, 30-10. Rhode Island and Dayton have already squared off once this season with the Flyers picking up a hard-fought 3-2 win at home over the Rams. UD has won the last three and 23 of the last 24 meetings between the two.
FOR: Dayton leads, 33-1. Fordham was in Dayton on Oct. 2 and the Flyers claimed a 3-0 win over the Rams in only the third conference match of the season. FOR has only beaten UD one time on 40 meetings, a 3-2 win in the Bronx on Nov. 21, 1997.

RPI Rankings
As of Oct. 26, Dayton heads into this weekend's matches holding a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) ranking of 35 according to ncaa.com. Rhode Island comes in with a RPI of 100 and Fordham is at 293 in the RPI.

• Tim Horsmon is in his seventh season overall, and second since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2015. His record at Dayton is 176-54 and his career win-loss mark sits at 352-218 in 17 seasons as a head coach.
• With 14.15 kills/set as a team, Dayton leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks 25th nationally. The Flyers also lead the A-10 in hitting percentage (.276, 16th NCAA), opponent hitting percentage (.171, 51st NCAA) and assists/set (13.04, 34th NCAA) and rank second in digs/set (14.36) and third with 1.50 service aces/set (54th NCAA) and 2.37 blocks/set.
• Individually, senior Alaina Turner ranks first in the A-10 with 4.36 kills/set (19th NCAA) while sophomore Amber Erhahon ranks first with a .390 hitting percentage (31st NCAA). Also among the top 10 in the league are: Turner, 0.42 aces/set (2nd A-10, 30th NCAA); Erhahon, 1.31 blocks/set (2nd A-10, 35th NCAA); senior Janna Krafka, 4.07 digs/set (2nd); sophomore Jane Emmenecker, 10.52 assists/set (3rd); senior Jenna Jendryk, .329 hitting percentage (7th); Krafka, 0.30 aces/set (10th).
• Over the last seven seasons (2009-2015), the Flyers have recorded an 87-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• The Flyers finished the 2014 season with a 30-6 overall record and a 13-1 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2014 was the program's third 30-win season of the modern-DI era.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record nine times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 10th NCAA appearance in program history in 2014.

Moving up the Ranks
With 1,349 career kills, senior Alaina Turner is moving up the ranks in UD's record book. She's just 152 kills away from usurping former Flyer All-American Rachel Krabacher who currently holds the number-five slot with 1,500 kills. Currently in second place on the all-time career digs list (1,894), senior Janna Krafka is only 177 digs away from become Dayton's new career digs record holder, replacing Adrienne Green (2,070).

You "Kill" Me (through matches on Oct. 28)
With 4.36 kills/set, senior Alaina Turner ranks 19th in the NCAA while scoring 5.12 points/set which comes in at 13th in the nation. The A-10's leading attacker, Turner ranks 52nd nationally with 11.00 attacks/set, 99th with 858 total attacks and 47th with 340 total kills. For her career, Turner ranks 20th among active NCAA DI players with 1,349 career kills. Oh, and did we mention the reigning A-10 Player of the Year serves up 0.42 aces/set which is good for 30th nationally?

Who's in First?
With volleyball and men's soccer leading the Atlantic 10 and football in first place in Pioneer League standings, Dayton is one of eight programs nationally that have three teams that are leading their conference. In addition to Dayton, that list includes Boston U, Dartmouth, Hofstra, Maryland, Monmouth, New Mexico State and Stanford.

13th to 1,000
With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,046-562 (.650) over 46 seasons (1970).

Erhahon A-10's Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 26
Sophomore middle blocker Amber Erhahon was recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference on Oct. 26 with the Co-Player of the Week award. Erhahon led the Flyers with 3.22 kills/set in two wins during the week of Oct. 19-25.
