DELAND, Fla. – The University of Dayton football team improved to 4-0 on the year and 1-0 in the Pioneer Football League with a 27-14 win at Stetson on Saturday.
With
Connor Kacsor held down to a season-low 24 carries and 61 net yards, redshirt freshman quarterback
Alex Jeske stepped up. Jeske completed 15 of 23 passes for 223 yards with three touchdowns.
SCORING
• Dayton did not trail for the first time in any game this year.
• UD scored the first 10 points of the contest, on a 44-yard
William Will field goal and a three-yard pass from Jeske to
Tyler Tumpane.
• The first TD was set up by a 71-yard interception return by
Christian Searles.
• Stetson quarterback Ryan Tentler ran 35 yards to make the score 10-7 after one quarter.
• The Flyers would score the next 17 points.
• A 14-yard Jeske to
Jack Euritt TD would make it 17-7 at halftime.
• Dayton took to second-half kickoff and drove 75 yards in eight plays, the final 29 coming on a Jeske to
Gus Madden completion.
• Will added a 25-yard field goal to put the Flyers up 27-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
• On the first possession of the fourth quarter, Tentler found Chris Crawford from eight yards out to make it 27-14, but Stetson would not run another play in Dayton territory.
STATS
• Tumpane caught six passes for 52 yards to lead the Flyers.
• Euritt had three catches for 61 yards.

Cory Stuart extended his streak of catching at least one pass to 19 games with two receptions for 36 yards.
• Linebacker
Jack Crain had his second straight game of double-digit tackles. He had 11 hits, with seven solo tackles.
• Flyer
Ryan Schwenke had eight tackles (five solo), with an interception and one TFL.
• Chris Beaschler and
Cameron Stubbs each had six tackles, and
Austen Alber had UD's only sack among his five hits.
• Freshman punter
Sean Smith averaged 41.1 yards on eight punts. He had two inside the 20.
NOTES
• The Flyers had the ball 10 minutes and 52 seconds in the third quarter, with scoring drives of 75 yards (touchdown) and 82 yards (field goal).
• UD has not been shut out in an FCS record 435 straight games, the best such active string in all of college football.
