FLYERS SOAR PAST RAMS TO MAKE A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Dayton men's soccer team scored a late winner to move into the Atlantic 10 Championship game on Sunday.

The Flyers (12-5-3) defeated Rhode Island (10-8-2) by a score of 2-1 on Friday, completing the comeback victory. With Friday's win over the Rams, Flyer head coach Dennis Currier now has 300 career head coaching wins.
 
KEY STATS
• In the first half, Dayton out-shot Rhode Island 10-6 and put five on target. The Flyers finished the game with 13 shots total and eight on frame. The Rams had nine shots total.
• Senior Amass Amankona and senior Carlos Sendin both had a team-high three shots with Amankona putting all three on target.•  d
• UD had a 6-3 corner kick advantage and commited two fewer fouls.
• Sophomore goalkeeper had four saves in his fourth win of the year.
• This is the first trip to the A-10 Tournament title game since 2009. It is also the fifth season under head coach Dennis Currier the Flyers have won 12 or more games.

DAYTON GOALS
• 44th Minute: Senior Amass Amankona (13th goal of season) made a great run across the goal, receiving the pass from fellow senior Michael Frasca before slotting the shot low and away from the URI keeper. (Dayton 1, Rhode Island 1)
• 80th Minute: Senior Kissima Bojang (4th goal of season) collected the volleyed pass from junior Tommy Harr before controlling it and shooting to the far post for the go-ahead goal. (Dayton, 2, Rhode Island 1)
 
RHODE ISLAND GOAL
• 19th Minute: Senior Mike Casey scored the opening goal when he fired a rebound to the near corner after the initial shot went off the post and into Casey's path. (Dayton, 0, Rhode Island 1)
