DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Flyers defeated the William & Mary Tribe 69-66 at UD Arena in front of a crowd of 12,796. Dayton moves to 3-0, while William & Mary falls to 3-1.
Charles Cooke led the Flyers with 18 points.
GAME BREAKDOWN- The Flyers took a 12-11 lead with 11:32 to play in the first half on a jumper by Darrell Davis.
- William & Mary proceeded to go on a 16-4 run to take a 27-16 lead.
- Ryan Mikesell's three-point basket brought Dayton within six, but the away team responded with a three-point basket of their own to take a 30-21 lead into the halftime break.
- Dayton came within four points twice early in the second half, but the Tribe responded and held a 42-33 advantage with 15:00 left in regulation.
- The home team went on a 9-0 run to get within two points, 44-42.
- The Flyers regained the lead, 49-47, with 10:13 to go in the second half. This was the first lead for Dayton since the 11:32 minute mark in the first half.
- The home team extended their lead to nine, 58-49, with 6:33 to play.
- William & Mary responded to take a 62-61 lead with 1:13 remaining in regulation.
- Kyle Davis' layup gave the Flyers a 64-62 lead with under a minute to play.
