EIGHTH-RANKED PENN STATE ELIMINATES #UDVB IN NCAA SECOND ROUND

Erhahon and Turner Post Double-Digit Kills for Flyers

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The University of Dayton volleyball team fell 3-1 (17-25, 25-13, 14-25, 25-17) at eighth-ranked Penn State Saturday night in NCAA Tournament Second Round action. The Flyers end their season with a 27-6 overall record after making the program's 11th overall appearance in the national post-season championship and its seventh trip to the Second Round. Penn State moves on to the Des Moines Regional with a 28-5 record.

STATS OF THE MATCH
• Senior Janna Krafka became the program's all-time digs leader with her first dig of the match. She now holds the record with 2,086 career digs. Krafka led all passers in the match with 16 digs.
• Sophomore Amber Erhahon led the Flyers with a match-high 16 kills, a .600 hitting percentage and four blocks. Senior Alaina Turner was the second Flyer with double-digit kills, tallying 15 terminations for the match.
• Sophomore Jane Emmenecker recorded her second-consecutive double-double with 45 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Jessica Sloan got under 11 digs for UD.
• Penn State was led by Ali Frantti and Aiyana Whitney with 14 kills each and Megan Courtney passed a team-best 15 digs.
• For the match, Penn State tallied 55 kills to Dayton's 50 and the Nittany Lions out-hit the Flyers, .369 to .209.

SET-BY-SET
• Set One: Dayton scored the first point but Penn State scored three straight to go up 3-1. A 5-0 Nittany Lion spurt pushed the PSU lead to 11-5 but Turner laid down three consecutive kills to cut the advantage to three, 14-11. Penn State surged ahead seven, 22-15, and took the first set by an eight-point margin, 25-17.
• Set Two: The Flyers started fast in the second set, scoring the first five points and held a 6-1 advantage on the strength of three Turner kills. A 5-0 Dayton run pushed the Flyers' lead to eight, 11-3, and a kill from senior Angel Agu got UD to 15 first, leading by six. The Flyers lead by as many as 11, 22-11, down the stretch following a 6-0 run and took the set, 25-13. The set loss was the worst for Penn State in a 25-point set this season and the first in its last 15 sets.
• Set Three: The two squads traded points through three early-set ties but Penn State was able to rattle off four straight to pull in front, 7-3. UD kept it close early but PSU led by six, 15-9, at the media timeout and then 10 at 22-12. The Nittany Lions went on to claim set three, 25-14.
• Set Four: A Flyer double block gave Dayton an early 4-2 advantage in set four and the frame was tied at four, five and six before Penn State pulled ahead two, 8-6. Dayton was able to tie the set at 13 and 14 but Penn State took a seven-point, 22-15, lead on the strength of a 6-0 run. The Lions scored the last three points of the set to take the frame, 25-17, and the match, 3-1.
