FIVE IN DOUBLE FIGURES AS #UDWBB DOWNS FORDHAM, 59-45

Malott Recorded the Game's Only Double-Double with 10 Points, 13 Rebounds

BRONX, N.Y. - On the strength of five players with double-figures scoring, the University of Dayton women's basketball team defeated Fordham, 59-45, at the Rams' Rose Hill Gym. Senior Andrea Hoover was the leading scorer for the Flyers while senior Ally Malott recorded the 10-point, 13-rebound double-double to go with four steals and two blocks.

With the win, Dayton improves to 20-5 on the season and 11-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play while Fordham falls to 17-9 overall and 9-4 in league action.

Also for the Flyers, juniors Amber Deane and Kelley Austria and sophomore Saicha Grant-Allen each chipped in 10 points and Hoover dished out a team-best five assists.

Dayton never trailed in the second half and Fordham never got any closer than to within seven points. After shooting 36 percent from the floor in the first half, the Flyers finished the game making 43.8 percent of their shots. UD out-rebounded FOR, 42-36.

A flurry of turnovers plagued both teams in the early going of the first half as the game had a combined seven miscues and no points scored at the under-16 media timeout. The two squads battled back and forth with Fordham taking a 16-14 lead with 4:39 remaining in the first period. Dayton would score the final nine points of the half, including a three-point basket from freshman Jenna Burdette with 46 seconds showing on the clock, to take the seven-point, 23-16 advantage into the break.

The Rams were led by Tiffany Ruffin with a game-high 19 points and Samantha Clark with 11 rebounds.

Dayton returns to action on Sunday as it plays host to La Salle. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at UD Arena on Senior Day. Three senior team members along with team managers and practice players will be recognized after the game.
