STATESBORO, GA. – The University of Dayton softball team (2-4) dropped the first two games in the Eagle Classic played at Georgia Southern University on Friday, February 20.

Game 1 NC State 3 Dayton 1
In game one the Flyers faced NC State (4-6), a team who has faced ranked opponents in six of their last nine games. Dayton had the bases loaded (2BB and an error got the Flyers on the bases) in the top of the first and
Katelyn Gibson was walked.

Senior
Natalie Mariano scored an unearned run, the only one of the game for the Flyers. Dayton struggled offensively in game one with no hits.
Gabby Snyder started on the mound for the Flyers and threw 4.0 innings. She gave up 3 hits and 3 runs.Â
Manda Cash relieved Snyder and pitched the last 2.0 innings. Cash struck out five and faced eight batters to close out the game.
The Flyers fell to the Wolfpack 3-1.
Game 2 North Carolina 6 Dayton 1
Dayton faced North Carolina (6-4) in game two on Friday. Going into today's game the Flyers had an all-time record of 0-1 against the Tar Heels.  The teams last met in 2003.

Kennedy Haynes had a solo home run to center field which tied the game in the third inning. That would be the Flyers only run and hit of the game as the offensive struggle continued in the second game.
Kayla English started in the circle for the Flyers and pitched 3.1 innings. She gave up three hits, three runs and struck out three.  Senior
Lyndsey Diggs closed out the game for Dayton. She gave up a hit but allowed no runs.
Dayton dropped game two to the Tar Heels 6-1.
The Flyers are back in action again tomorrow, when they take on NC State at 2 PM on day two at the Eagle Classic.
