DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team defeated the University of Massachusetts, 69-60, Thursday night at UD Arena. With the win, the Flyers improve to 22-5 overall and 13-2 in the Atlantic 10 while the Minutewomen fall to 10-17 overall and 4-11 in conference play.
The player of the game was senior
Andrea Hoover, who in her last game at UD Arena had a game-high 19 points to go with three rebounds and two assists.
The game was within five points for majority of the first half until Dayton went on an 8-0 run in the last 3:20 of the half to pull ahead, 40-30, and never looked back. Dayton went into the locker room with the 10-point lead at halftime.
Four different Flyers scored in double figures including junior
Amber Deane wuth 12 points and senior
Ally Malott and junior
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova each contributed 11 as well.
The Flyers had great production off the bench with a total of 22 points compared to the Minutewomen's 13 bench points.
Dayton forced UMass into turning the ball over 21 times. From those turnovers, the Flyers were able to score 15 points. UMass forced 15 Dayton turnovers and converted them into 20 points.
Kim Pierre-Louis led the way for the Minutewomen with 17 points and five rebounds before fouling out with 3:59 remaining in the game.
Dayton is back in action Sunday, March 1 at 3 p.m. (ET) for its final regular-season game as the team travels to Saint Louis to take on the Billikens at Chaifetz Arena.
