DAYTON WOMEN’S TENNIS GETS COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN AT UC

Mandy Marchant’s Three-Setter Gives UD The Win

CINCINNATI –
The University of Dayton women's tennis team came from behind to edge the host Cincinnati Bearcats 4-3 Saturday at the Western Tennis & Fitness Center.

The Flyers took the doubles point with Jackie Kawamoto and Alex Townsend evened things with an 8-3 match and then Carly Peck and Katie Shepherd clinched the point with an 8-5 decision.

In singles, Jade Kawamoto's 6-2, 6-0 win at sixth singles was the first match that was completed.  UD took three straight singles matches to lead 3-2, but Dayton took the final two matches.  At No. 4 singles, Jackie Kawamoto won 6-4, 6-1, and then in a three-set thriller, Mandy Marchant won 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 to give the Flyers the win.

UD hosts Valparaiso on Sunday at Five Seasons Dayton.  The women's match begins at 12 noon, followed by the men's match at 3 p.m. ET.
