ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Dayton softball team
(28-12, 12-2 A-10) dropped a tough decision on the road to the Ohio Bobcats (12-22, 4-4 MAC) 8-2 on Tuesday evening at the Ohio Softball Stadium. The Flyers wrapped up an eight-game road swing with a 6-2 record.

Ohio got things started in the first inning with a two-run double from Madison Claytor. The Bobcats added on to the lead in the second with a four-run inning on back-to-back RBI hits from Casie Hutchinson and Raven King.

Dayton chipped away at the lead in the fourth after sophomores
Hannah DeSalvo and
Gabrielle Snyder both reached base, and were brought home on a two-run double from freshman
Kailee Budicin.

Ohio pushed the lead back to six in the fifth inning on another two-run double, this time by Sam Bowlsby, and held on for the 8-2 victory.

UD finished the game being outhit just 8-5. Snyder led the Flyers with two hits, while Budicin, sophomore
Katie Ryan and freshman
Jaclyn Kweder also had one each.Â

Freshman
Manda Cash, in relief of Snyder on the mound, threw one scoreless inning and struck out one to extend her team lead in punch-outs to 103.

The Flyers now return home to UD Softball Stadium this weekend for a three-game set against George Washington University. They will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon, and wrap-up the series on Sunday with another game at noon.
