MARQUETTE CLAIMS 3-0 WIN OVER VOLLEYBALL

Jendryk and Turner Lead Flyers with Nine Kills Each

AMES, Iowa - In its final match of the Iowa State Cyclone Invitational, the University of Dayton volleyball team fell to Marquette, 3-0 (21-25, 23-25, 15-25). Seniors Jenna Jendryk and Alaina Turner led the Flyers with nine kills each. Marquette improves to 2-0 on the season while Dayton moves to 0-3.

STATS OF THE MATCH
• Jendryk recorded nine kills while hitting at .300 and Turner had nine kills to go with seven digs.
• Senior Janna Krafka was the team's leading passer with 10 digs while senior Jill Loiars and sophomore Amber Erhahon each recorded three blocks in the match.
• Marquette out-hit Dayton, .340 to .229, and MU recorded 45 kills to UD's 40.
• The Golden Eagles were led by Taylor Louis with a match-high 17 kills and narrowly missed the double-double with nine digs.

SET-BY-SET
• Set One: After trailing by three in the early going, Dayton took the lead at 12-11 on an Erhahon service ace. Marquette would pull back ahead and lead by four late. The Golden Eagles took the first set, 25-21, on a kill from Joy Miley.
• Set Two: There were nine ties in the second frame before the Golden Eagles pulled ahead seven, 22-15. The Flyers put together a late rally, cutting the advantage to one, 24-23, but the Golden Eagles claimed the second set, 25-23.
• Set Three: Marquette took control of the first set quickly, going up 4-1 on Dayton. The Golden Eagles held the advantage through the remainder of the set and picked up the 25-15 game win to take the match, 3-0.

UP NEXT
• Dayton will travel to Carbondale, Illinois, to take part in the Comfort Inn Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois Sept. 4-5. The two-day tournament kicks off on Friday the 4th against the host Salukis at 8 p.m. Saturday's matches will feature UT Martin and Western Kentucky. All contests will be played in SIU Arena.
