VOLLEYBALL OPENS A-10 ON THE ROAD AT DUQUESNE

Dayton will Play at Duquesne Friday, La Salle Saturday

DAYTON, Ohio - Currently enjoying a five-match winning streak, Dayton volleyball will open the Atlantic 10 portion of its schedule at Duquesne on Friday. The Flyers and Dukes will get started at 7 p.m. at Duquesne's A. J. Palumbo Center with both live stats and video stream available via DaytonFlyers.com. On Saturday, Dayton will head over to Philadelphia for a stop at La Salle.

About Duquesne
Duquesne closed out the pre-conference season with a 6-8 overall record and most recently picked up the 3-1 win at Rutgers on Sept. 19. The Dukes went 1-2 at Rutgers' Invitational last weekend, including losses to Princeton and Howard. Duquesne is led offensively by Madelyn Burnham with 2.94 kills/set (t-7th A-10) and Lacey Levers with a .330 hitting percentage (8th A-10). Sammy Kline is the team's leading passer with 3.73 digs/set (5th A-10) and Levers leads the block with 0.80/set.

Series Stuff
Dayton and Duquesne have previously met 42 times in the series between the two programs, with the Flyers holding a sizeable 38-4 advantage. The series dates back to Sept. 15, 1990 when Dayton claimed a 3-0 win at Duquesne and the two most recently met at UD on Nov. 16, 2014 in both squads' A-10 regular-season finalé. The Flyers earned the 3-1 win over the Dukes to finish the conference slate at 13-1.

Flyer Facts
• Tim Horsmon is in his seventh season overall, and second since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2015. His record at Dayton is 165-54 and his career win-loss mark sits at 341-218 in 17 seasons as a head coach.
• With 14.43 kills/set as a team, Dayton leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks 17th among 329 NCAA DI institutions. The Flyers also lead the A-10 in hitting percentage (.266 - 29th NCAA) and assists/set (13.36 - 16th NCAA) and rank second in digs/set (15.09).
• Individually, senior Alaina Turner ranks first in the A-10 and 27th in the NCAA with 4.27 kills/set while sophomore Jane Emmenecker is first in the league and sixth nationally with 11.67 assists/set. Also among the top 10 in the league are: sophomore Amber Erhahon, 1.20 blocks/set (3rd); senior Janna Krafka, 4.07 digs/set (3rd); Turner, 0.39 aces/set (5th); senior Jenna Jendryk, .343 hitting percentage (6th); Krafka, 0.36 aces/set (t-7th); senior Jill Loiars, 2.94 kills/set (t-7th);
• Dayton returns the 2014 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in senior Alaina Turner, the A-10 Setter of the Year in sophomore Jane Emmenecker and the A-10 Libero of the Year in senior Janna Krafka.
• The Flyers finished the 2014 season with a 30-6 overall record and with a 13-1 Atlantic 10, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2014 was the program's third 30-win season of the modern-DI era.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record nine times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 10th NCAA appearance in program history in 2014.
• Over the last six seasons (2009-2014), the Flyers have recorded a 78-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.

Moving up the Ranks
With 1,197 career kills, senior Alaina Turner is moving up the ranks in UD's record book. She's just 304 kills away from usurping former Flyer All-American Rachel Krabacher who currently holds the number-five slot with 1,500 kills. Currently in second place on the all-time career digs list (1,731), senior Janna Krafka is only 340 digs away from become Dayton's new career digs record holder, replacing Adrienne Green (2,070).

You "Kill" Me
With 12.07 attacks/set, senior Alaina Turner ranks 14th in the NCAA while scoring 4.93 points/set which comes in at 20th in the nation. The A-10's leading attacker, Turner ranks 27th with 4.27 kills/set, 44th in the NCAA with 188 total kills and 45th with 531 total attacks.

13th to 1,000
With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,035-562 (.648) over 46 seasons (1970).

Co-Player and Defensive Player of the Week Awards for UD
On Monday, Sept. 21, the Atlantic 10 Conference named senior Alaina Turner the league's co-Player of the Week while sophomore Amber Erhahon earned her second A-10 Defensive Player of the week nod. Turner averaged 4.60 kills per set while hitting at .261 and recorded her sixth double-double of the season in Dayton's 3-0 weekend at the Flyer Invitational. Erhahon averaged 1.30 blocks/set and 0.60 digs/set for the tournament and hit a career-high .700 against Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

Most Valuable Player, Again
In its final pre-conference tournament of the season, the Flyers were a perfect 3-0 at the Flyer Invitational Sept. 18-19. For her outstanding play, senior Alaina Turner was again named the Most Valuable Player for the weekend and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by sophomore Amber Erhahon.

UD Picked First in 2015 A-10 Preseason Poll
Dayton has been chosen to finish in first place in the Atlantic 10 for 2015. The Flyers, winners of five of the last six A-10 titles, tallied 88 points in voting among the league's head coaches (including eight of 10 first-place votes). George Washington was selected to finish second.

Dayton Invitational All-Tournament Team
After a 2-1 weekend at its first home tournament of 2015, Dayton was rewarded with two names on the All-Tournament Team roster. Senior Jenna Jendryk was named the tournament's MVP and senior Angel Agu joined her on the all-tourney team.

Erhahon Earns UD's First Weekly Award
Sophomore Amber Erhahon picked up the squad's first A-10 weekly award of the season on Tuesday after being named the league's Defensive Player of the Week. Erhahon averaged 1.40 blocks/set, 1.90 kills/set and 3.05 points/set over the weekend and was named to the Saluki Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Saluki Invitational Honors
Three Flyers earned all-tournament honors at the Comfort Inn Saluki Invitational Sept. 4-5. Senior Alaina Turner was named MVP of the weekend while senior Janna Krafka and sophomore Amber Erhahon joined Turner on the All-Tournament squad.

2014 Atlantic 10 Coach, Player, Libero and Setter of the Year ...
The Flyers claimed four of the five yearly awards given out by the Atlantic 10 as announced by the league office on Nov. 20: Tim Horsmon - Coach of the Year, Alaina Turner - Player of the Year, Janna Krafka - Libero of the Year and Jane Emmenecker - Setter of the Year. This is the first end-of-the-year award for each student-athlete and the second time coach Horsmon (2005) has been recognized.
