ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -
Charles Cooke scored 21 points and
Dyshawn Pierre added 20 as the Dayton Flyers picked up a key road win, 85-79, against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
Darrell Davis scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor and
Kendall Pollard registered 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.
The win improves Dayton to 5-1 in the Atlantic 10 and 15-3 overall. St. Bonaventure dropped to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in league play.
GAME BREAKDOWN- Dayton led 45-18 at the half. The Flyers led 14-12 and then went on a 28-5 run in the next 10 minutes.
- UD shot 17-of-26 from the field in the first 20 minutes.
- The Flyers increased their lead to 31 after a Steve McElevne free throw with 13:09 left to play.
- St. Bonaventure rallied and cut the deficit to eight with 27 seconds left in regulation.
- After two made free throws by Kyle Davis, the Bonnies converted their next two shot attempts to trim the lead to six. But the Flyers would force two missed shots and eventually hang on for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS- Charles Cooke continued his stellar play scoring in double figures for the eighth straight contest.
- Pierre also kept his double-figure scoring streak alive at five.
- Both Pierre and Cooke had seven rebounds and three assists in the game.
- It was the second-largest first half lead of the season, trailing the 30 point margin in the Southeast Missouri contest.
- UD has won 23 straight games scoring 80-plus points.
- St. Bonaventure scored 61 second half points.
- The Flyers finished the game shooting 57 percent from the field and 9-of-15 from beyond the arc.
- UD also controlled the glass holding a 34-29 edge. Dayton is 10-1 this year when out-rebounding teams.
