CANNATELLI LEADS #UDWBB TO 71-61 WIN AT SAINT JOSEPH'S

Freshman from Cincinnati Scored a Career-High 24 Points

PHILADELPHIA - Behind a career-high 24 points from freshman Lauren Cannatelli, the University of Dayton women's basketball team picked up a 71-61 win at Saint Joseph's Sunday evening at SJU's Hagan Arena. With the win, the Flyers improve to an even 9-9 on the season and a 2-5 mark in Atlantic 10 play while the Hawks fall to 9-10 overall and 3-4 in league action.

GAME BREAKDOWN
• 1Q: Cannatelli scored eight points in the first five minutes of play as Dayton held a 16-10 lead at the first break. After scoring five points over the last minute of the period, the Flyers were up 10, 25-15.
• 2Q: Junior Saicha Grant-Allen scored Dayton's first two field goals of the second quarter and became the second Flyer in double-figures scoring with 10 by the half. With just under 30 seconds to play. Cannatelli hit her fifth three-point basket of the game to push the score to 42-32 in favor of Dayton as both teams headed to the locker room.
• 3Q: Dayton was only able to score one basket over the first five-plus minutes of action but was able to hold Saint Joseph's to five points over that stretch. Grant-Allen finished the period with back-to-back layups and the Flyers were up, 53-48, on the Hawks.
• 4Q: The Flyers first points of the final frame came at 7:11 on a layup from sophomore Jenna Burdette. Saint Joseph's pulled to within two, 55-53, but would get no closer. Dayton shot eight free throws in the last 30+ seconds of the game to push its lead to 10, 71-61, to hold on for the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Cannatelli led all scorers with a career-high 24 points to go with five rebounds and three steals for the Flyers.
• Three other Flyers recorded double-figures scoring: Grant-Allen 17, Cornelie-Sigmundova 12, Layfield 10
• The Hawks were led by Chelsea Woods with 20 points and seven rebounds.

KEY STATS
• Saint Joseph's out-rebounded Dayton, 36-27, but the Hawks committed 24 turnovers to the Flyers' 15.
• Dayton shot 78.3 percent from the line (18-23) to Saint Joseph's 68.0 percent (17-25).
