Cannatelli Led All Scorers with 20 Points

PHILADELPHIA - In its second game in four days, the University of Dayton women's basketball team picked up a 16-point, 67-51 win over La Salle on Wednesday night at the Explorers' Tom Gola Arena. Freshman Lauren Cannatelli led all scorers with 20 points for the Flyers. With the win, UD improves to 10-9 on the season and 3-5 in Atlantic 10 action while LAS falls to 3-17 overall and 0-7 in league play.

GAME BREAKDOWN
• 1Q: La Salle won the tip and quickly scored a bucket but Dayton was able to pull ahead five, 13-8, with just over three minutes to play in the quarter. The Explorers put together an 8-0 run to close out the frame and take a three-point, 16-13, advantage into the quarter break.
• 2Q: Junior Saicha Grant-Allen opened the second with a layup for the Flyers but Cannatelli scored UD's next 10 points to put Dayton up 25-21 with four minutes left in the half. La Salle pulled to within one, 27-26, but a long-range jumper from sophomore Jenna Burdette set the score at 30-26 in favor of UD, which would be the score at halftime.
• 3Q: Dayton opened the third quarter with a 9-0 run to push its lead to 13, 39-26, and UD held LAS scoreless for nearly the entire first five minutes of the period. La Salle was within eight, 44-38, but Cannatelli ended the quarter with two made free throws to put Dayton up 48-38 after three.
• 4Q: Grant-Allen scored the first bucket of the fourth but the Explorers were able to cut it back to 10, 52-42, after a long ball from Amy Griffin. That would be as close as they would get as the Flyers cruised to the 16-point, 67-51 win at Tom Gola Arena.
