#UDWBB DEFEATS DAVIDSON, 77-66

DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers defeated the Davidson Wildcats at UD Arena on Sunday afternoon, 77-66.  The win is Dayton's third in a row and improves its record to 11-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.  The loss drops Davidson to 9-13 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
Junior Christy Macioce scored a career-high 17 points to lead all scorers.  Junior Saicha Grant-Allen (14), sophomore Javonna Layfield (11) and sophomore Jenna Burdette (10) all joined Macioce in double figures for the Flyers.

GAME BREAKDOWN
1Q:  Davidson took a 20-15 lead with 1:06 to play in the quarter on a layup from Justine Lyon, but freshman Lauren Cannatelli scored the last five points of the frame to tie the score at 20 heading into the second quarter.
2Q:  Macioce made three 3-pointers in the second quarter to score nine of her 17 first-half points. Lyon knocked down a 3-pointer as time expired off an inbounds pass to give the Wildcats a 40-37 lead at halftime. There were six lead changes in the second quarter. 
3Q:  Hannah Early made a layup with 7:26 left in the quarter to stretch Davidson's lead to 46-39, its largest of the game. The Flyers responded with strong defense for the rest of the quarter by forcing the Wildcats to 2-13 (15%) shooting for the rest of the period. After Early's layup, Dayton out-scored Davidson 17-5 the remainder of the quarter. Layfield converted a put-back and resulting free throw with 2.5 seconds left to give Dayton a 56-51 lead at the end of the third quarter.
4Q:  Dayton opened up the fourth quarter with a 7-2 run to extend the lead to 63-53.  Davidson was able to cut the lead to six with 3:03 remaining when Mackenzie Latt's jumper made the score 64-58, but Burdette was a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line in the final 2:50. Dayton shot 13-16 (81%) as a team from the line in the fourth quarter to ice the game and seal the 77-66 Dayton win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Macioce made all five of Dayton's 3-point field goals. She was 5-7 from beyond-the-arc and scored a career-high 17 points, all in the first half.
• Senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova had six blocks on the game. This was her fifth game with at least six blocks or more.

KEY STATS
• Dayton shot 20-25 (80%) from the free throw line while Davidson struggled from the line shooting 4-16 (25%).
• The Flyers forced 18 turnovers and were able to score 17 points off of those turnovers.  The Wildcats only managed eight points off of 11 Flyer turnovers for the game.
