DAYTON TAKES 60-48 WIN OVER RICHMOND WEDNESDAY

Grant-Allen Leads Flyers with 19-Point, 13-Rebound Double-Double

RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Dayton women's basketball team claimed a 60-48 win over Richmond at the Spiders' Robins Center Wednesday night. With the win, the Flyers improve to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic 10 play while the Spiders fall to 8-7 on the season and 1-1 in league action.

GAME BREAKDOWN
• 1Q: Dayton scored the first eight points of the contest, holding Richmond scoreless for four minutes. Six Flyers scored in the first frame and UD ended the period leading by eight, 16-8.
• 2Q: The second quarter was nearly even with Dayton narrowly out-scoring Richmond, 12-11. Saicha Grant-Allen continued her stellar first half, adding five points for a 20-minute total of nine to go with seven rebounds. Heading into the locker room, the Flyers were up nine, 28-19.
• 3Q: With a 9-3 run to open the third quarter, Richmond was able to whittle Dayton's lead down to three, 31-28. The Flyers answered by scoring 17 of the next 20 points, jumping back out to the 48-31 lead and ended the frame ahead, 50-33.
• 4Q: Grant-Allen scored UD's first six points of the fourth quarter as Dayton continued to be in control. In the end, Dayton picked up the 60-48 win over Richmond.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Grant-Allen led the Flyers with a career-high-tying 19 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. She was 8-for-12 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the line.
• Also in double-figures scoring was freshman Lauren Cannatelli added 10 points while senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova grabbed a career-high-tying 11 rebounds to go with her career-high seven blocks.
• Junior Christy Macioce earned her first career start, adding a career-high nine points for the Flyers.

KEY STATS
• Dayton out-rebounded Richmond, 54-32, and the Flyers tallied 11 blocks to the Spiders' zero.
• The Flyers made all nine of their free-throw attempts (100%) to the Spiders' 10-for-15 (66.7%) night at the line.
• UD's bench scored 15 points to RIC's two and the Flyers put back 17 second-chance points to the Spiders' two.

UP NEXT
Dayton (finally) returns to UD Arena for its Atlantic 10 Conference home opener on Sunday. UD will host George Washington for a 2:05 p.m. tip. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
