PITTSBURGH – The University of Dayton women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Duquesne Thursday at Rooney Field. UD's record is now 5-9-3 overall and 3-4-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The Dukes improve to 6-8-3 overall and 6-2-1 in conference action.
STATS OF THE MATCH
• Dayton outshot Duquesne 12-8, including 8-2 in the second half.
• The Flyers led 5-4 on corner kicks.
• The Flyers had good scoring opportunities in the 53rd minute when
Alexis Kiehl hit the post off a header; in the 85th minute on a
Nicolette Griesinger free kick from 30 yards out, which led to two headers before Kiehl's header was blocked by defender in box; and in the 88th minute, Megan Blank streaked down the left side, and her shot was stopped at point-blank range.
DUQUESNE GOALS
• 6th minute – Linnea Faccenda slipped behind the defense, breakaway from about 40 yards out (Duquesne 1, Dayton 0).
• 69th minute – After a Jorden Thornton free kick on left side and Abby Losco header, Malea Fabean put away the goal (Duquesne 2, Dayton 0).

Dayton closes out the regular season with a home match vs. Massachusetts this Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at Baujan Field. This will mark Head Coach
Mike Tucker's final game at Baujan Field. The legendary coach will retire following the 2016 season.
