FLYERS RUN PAST STETSON IN 21-10 WIN

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton ground out a victory over Pioneer Football League foe Stetson on Saturday afternoon, taking down the visiting Hatters 21-10 at Welcome Stadium.

SCORING
•    Stetson opened up the game's scoring with a 56-yard drive that resulted in a 22-yard field goal to put the Hatters ahead 3-0.
•    Dayton broke open its scoring with a four-yard run into the endzone by redshirt sophomore Alex Jeske, putting the Flyers ahead 7-3.
•    Jeske added to UD's lead through the air, connecting with freshman Ryan Skibinski for a 28-yard touchdown that put Dayton up 14-3.
•    Late in the contest, Jeske put the finishing touches on the Hatters with an eight-yard touchdown run that put the Flyers ahead 21-3.
•    With the game winding down, Stetson put together a 74-yard drive that ended in a touchdown, bringing the score to its final of 21-10.

STATS
•    Alex Jeske led the Dayton offensive attack with 81 rushing yards and two scores on the ground and added 82 yards in the air (completing 9 of 13 passes in windy conditions) to go along with another touchdown.
•    Ryan Skibinski led all Flyers' receivers with 41 yards on two receptions, including a 28-yard touchdown catch.
•    Redshirt sophomore Jared Ruffing ran for 80 yards on the ground, including a long of 38.
•    Senior linebacker Jack Crain finished the game with a team-high 12 tackles, including six solo take downs.
•    Redshirt sophomore Nick Surges had 2.5 sacks and six total tackles.
•    Punter Sean Smith had seven punts for a 42.4 yard average, with four downed inside the 20.

NOTES
•    The Flyers have won five straight.
•    Dayton has won all three series meetings against Stetson.
•    The Hatters had six drives begin inside their won 20-yard line.
•    Stetson's first quarter field goal was the first points given up by Dayton at home in the first quarter this season.
•    UD has outscored opponents 151-66 at home.
•    Jeske has now led the team in rushing in four games this season.
•    Senior Jack Euritt had his streak of 20-straight games with a reception snapped.
•    The Flyers have scored in an NCAA-all-division record of 452 straight games.
 
UP NEXT
•    Dayton remains home for the final home game of the 2016 campaign.  The Flyers will host Valparaiso on Nov. 5.
•    Senior Day festivities will include the naming of the recipient of the 2016 Lt. Andy Zulli Memorial Trophy, a character-driven award that is regarded as the most prestigious in the Flyer football program.
