FOOTBALL SCORES BIG IN 51-27 WIN OVER MOREHEAD STATE

Flyers Rush For A Season-High 461 Yards

DAYTON - The University of Dayton (4-2, 2-1 PFL) defeated Morehead State (2-4, 1-2 PFL) 51-27 Saturday at Welcome Stadium. The Flyers rushed for a season-high 461 yards, led by Tucker Yinger's 193 yards on 21 carries, Jared Ruffing's 186 yards on 20 carries, and Alex Jeske's 83 yards on nine rushes. Ruffing rushed for three touchdowns, Yinger added a 57-yard rushing TD and Jeske accounted for two touchdowns, a 15-yard pass to Jack Euritt and a 13-yard rushing TD.

William Will was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals (20, 38 and 49 yards). It was a record-setting day for Will.

His 49-yard field goal matched the longest of his career.  It was also the 49th of his career, tying the PFL record. Earlier in the game, his first field goal of the day gave him sole possession for the Flyer record for FGs in a career.  In addition, Will's second PAT of the day was the 65th consecutive PAT he send through the uprights, a UD program record previously held by Greg Schwarber (1972-75).  Will finished the day with 69 in a row.

SCORING
• Redshirt sophomore Jared Ruffing got the Flyers on the board on the first play of the second quarter with a one-yard rush. The play was set up by Ruffing's 61-yard rush – a career-long for him – to Morehead State's nine-yard line. The 91-yard scoring drive was the longest for the Flyers of the 2016 season.
• Redshirt senior William Will became UD's all-time career leader in field goals made (47) with a 20-yard made attempt with 11:42 left in the second quarter to put UD up 10-0.
• Ruffing scored his second rushing TD of the game, the second consecutive week he's rushed for at least two scores, to put the Flyers up 17-0 with 6:27 to play in the half. Will's PAT was his 65th consecutive, breaking a UD program record set by Greg Schwarber (1972-75).
• Morehead State scored on a 45-yard pass play from Austin Gahafer to Darius Pritchett.
• Alex Jeske found Jack Euritt in the end zone on a 15-yard pass with 31 seconds left in the half to give the Flyers a 24-7 lead.
• The Eagles scored the first points of the second half, Gahafer connecting with Jake Sutherland on an eight-yard pass with 10:03 left in the third quarter to cut the UD lead to 24-14.
• Will made a 38-yard field goal with 6:15 left to play in the third quarter to put UD up 27-14.
• Will hit a 49-yard field goal, the longest of his career to extend Dayton's lead to 30-14. It marked the 49th of his career, tying the PFL all-time record by former NFL kicker Billy Cundiff of Drake.
• MSU scored on a 79-yard pass play from Gahafer to Jarin Higginbotham with 33 seconds left in the third quarter. The PAT was no good.
