DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's basketball team opened up the 2016-17 season with a hard-fought loss to Quinnipiac, 63-60 Sunday afternoon at UD Arena. 
The Flyers are now 0-1 on the season, and the Bobcats 2-0.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter:
• Dayton went on a 12-2 over a six minute span.
• Quinnipiac's defense forced the Flyers into five turnovers.
• Both teams struggled from the free throw line, with Dayton making 2-of-6 attempts and Quinnipiac shooting 4-of-8.
• The Flyers had three assists and four field goals.
• Dayton led at the end of the quarter, 12-10.
 
2nd Quarter:
• 
Andrijana Cvitkovic helped kick start the Flyers with four points.
• Quinnipiac had three offensive rebounds to Dayton's none.

• Dayton held a 30-26 lead at the half.
 
3rd Quarter:
• 
Kelley Austria and 
Jenna Burdette hit back to back three-pointers to start off the second half.
• The Flyers shot 60% (3-for-5) from the three-point line to help build a 17-point advantage.
• Quinnipiac proved resilient, however, going on a 14-2 run to end the quarter.
• Dayton held on to a 48-43 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
 
4th Quarter:
• The Bobcats opened up the fourth quarter on a 14-3 run, building a seven-point lead over Dayton.
• Dayton held Quinnipiac to just one point over the next 3:22 and took back the lead with 1:41 to go.
• The Flyers didn't make a field goal over the final 1:41, and the Bobcats capitalized.
• Quinnipiac went on a 6-0 run in the last minute and a half of the game.

• The Dayton bench contributed 31 points, while Quinnipiac contributed 16.
• Dayton led for 30 minutes of the game.
