MIDWEEK TUNE UP ON TAP AS UD HOSTS SAINT JOSEPH'S COLLEGE
  • Looking for their fourth straight win, the University of Dayton Flyers host the Saint Joseph's Pumas on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.

ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S
  • The Saint Joseph's Pumas, a Division II program, enter the contest 4-4 overall but have lost three straight.
  • The Pumas showcase a high octane offense averaging 90.6 points per game.
  • Eric Gillespie leads the SJC attack averaging 16.5 points per game.

SERIES STUFF
  • Dayton leads the series 4-0.
  • The last time the two programs met was on Dec. 1, 1973 when the Flyers won 97-71.

SURGING SOPHOMORES
  • The active sophomore class of Xeyrius Williams, Sam Miller, Ryan Mikesell and John Crosby continue to make rapid strides.
  • In the first three games of the season, the group of four combined to average 4.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and shoot 5 of 24 from beyond the arc (.208) and 18 of 56 (.321) from the floor.
  • In the previous four contests, that foursome averaged 7.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and shot 14 of 31 (.451) from three and 38 of 84 (.452) on field goals.
  • Josh Cunningham, who is out until March, would have added to that group in the two games he played this season, averaging 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, while making 10 of 12 field goals.

SUPERIOR SENIORS
  • The senior class of Kyle Davis, Scoochie Smith and Kendall Pollard are on pace to be the winningest class in UD history.
  • The trio has 83 victories in their first 113 games, three wins ahead of the pace of the Class of 2011 (Chris Wright, Devin Searcy, Peter Zesterman and Logan Nourse).
  • The Class of 2011 finished with 97 wins.

  • This is Dayton's first game against a non-Division I opponent in the regular season since playing Arkansas-Monticello on Dec. 17, 2005.
  • Charles Cooke and Scoochie Smith are the only Flyers to have scored in double figures in every game this season.
  • Cooke has led the team in scoring in all but one game this year and that one game (at Alabama) was by one point.
  • Scoochie Smith has made 10 consecutive free throws in the last six games.
  • The Flyers have won 13 of their last 15 when Kyle Davis scores in double figures.
  • Kendall Pollard returned after missing the first six games of the year with a thigh bruise. Against Winthrop, he scored 12 points.
