DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Flyers defeated the George Mason Patriots on a snowy Wednesday evening at UD Arena, 81-58. The victory pushes the Flyer win streak to five, and improves their record to 13-9 overall and 6-5 in the Atlantic 10. The loss drops the Patriots to 10-15 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
Sophomore
Jenna Burdette led the Flyers with a career-high 23 points on 7-11 field goals and 6-9 from long range. She was followed in scoring by junior
Saicha Grant-Allen, who had 17 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova and freshman
Lauren Cannatelli also scored in double figures for the Flyers, with 12 points each.
Game Breakdown1Q: The Flyers controlled the lead for much of the first quarter, getting it to as large as six thanks to three pointers from junior

2Q: In response to George Mason taking the lead going into the second quarter, Dayton quickly reclaimed its lead thanks to a stifling 2-3 zone that held the Patriots scoreless in the first few minutes of play. Hot outside shooting from Burdette (first half: 16 points, 5-8 FG, 4-6 3FG) gave the Flyers a lead as big as 13, 36-23. But a four-minute scoring drought allowed George Mason to cut the score to 41-33 going into the half.
3Q: The Flyers changed their offensive strategy in third quarter, moving from a perimeter offense to working the ball in the post. This adjustment paid off, as Cornelie-Sigmundova and Grant-Allen combined for nine points in the paint in the quarter, giving the Flyers a 63-47 lead going into the fourth quarter.
4Q: Cornelie-Sigmundova and Grant-Allen continued their success in the post in the fourth quarter, scoring seven of the Flyers' first 10 points. This offensive success brought the Flyers lead to as much as 23, where the Flyers would stay with an 81-58 final score.
