Box Score GALESBURG, Ill. – The University of Dayton women's team rolled to victory in the first match of their three match roadtrip, taking down Western Illinois 6-1 on Thursday evening from the Western Illinois Tennis Complex.
Dayton took on a short-handed WIU squad, winning doubles in quick fashion as
Marlys Bridgham and
Mattea Kilstofte won at top doubles 6-2, while
Jackie Kawamoto and
Alex Townsend won 6-3 at No. 2.
Bridgham, Kilstofte, and Kawamoto found success on the singles side as well, winning by 6-1, 7-6, 6-4, 6-2 and 8-1 scores respectively. Joining the trio in singles victory was
Mandy Marchant, who won at the No. 5 spot 6-0, 3-6, 7-5.
UP NEXTUD returns to the courts on Friday, Feb. 26 when they play the second match of their road swing against SIU-Edwardsville, beginning at 6 p.m.
