TROY, Ala. –
Katie Ryan crushed a two-out, two-run double in the home half of the sixth inning to lift the University of Dayton softball team over Missouri State 3-1 to conclude the Trojan Warrior Tournament at the Troy Softball Complex.
Scoring Breakdown Bottom 1st – UD opened up the scoring when
Katie Ryan grounded out to drive home
Gabrielle Snyder, who opened up the inning with a triple.
Top 5th – Missouri State pulled even with an RBI double that knotted the score at 1-1.
Bottom 6th – After
Aspyn Novak walked and Snyder doubled, it was Ryan who came through again for the Flyers, lacing a two-out, two-run double to left-center field to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead.
Key StatsSnyder finished the game 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, scoring two runs in the process.
Ryan went 1-for-3 on the day and drove in all three of Dayton's runs.
Jessica Gilliam picked up the win (2-2) while
Manda Cash closed the door in the seventh to earn her second save of the season.
