CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - In a marathon of a match,
Mandy Marchant's comeback win in singles lifted the University of Dayton women's tennis team over Austin Peay by a 4-3 final at the Governors Tennis Center on Friday night.
After Dayton won the doubles point behind strong play from the duos of Marchant and
Marlys Bridgham as well as
Alex Townsend and
Jackie Kawamoto, Austin Peay jumped ahead with wins at the top three singles spots.
Jackie Kawamoto won at number four singles and
Jade Kawamoto came through at number five with a victory. After Marchant fell in the first set 6-2, she came back to win 7-5 in the second and wrapped up the match for the Flyers with a 6-3 win in the third.
With the win, the Flyers improve to 4-1 on the season.
UP NEXTDayton continues their stretch in the Volunteer state with a match against Belmont University on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 5 p.m.
