BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Dayton Flyers women's tennis team made it a clean sweep for the weekend in the Volunteer state with a 5-1 win over Belmont University at the Brentwood Swim & Tennis Club on Saturday evening.
Dayton once again started the match off strong with a doubles win, with
Mandy Marchant and
Marlys Bridgham taking number one doubles 7-6, and
Alex Townsend and
Jackie Kawamoto winning number two doubles 6-2.
Townsend and Kawamoto were victorious on the singles side as well, with Townsend winning 6-4, 6-2 and Kawamoto leading 6-3, 4-1 when her opponent retired.
Mattea Kilstofte and
Jade Kawamoto also delivered singles wins by 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-4 scores respectively.
The win improves Dayton to 5-1 on the season.
UP NEXTThe Flyers open up Atlantic 10 play next weekend as the ladies hits the road for a pair of matches in Pittsburgh on Feb. 12 and 13. UD takes on Duquesne on Friday and then faces off with George Mason on Saturday at 3 p.m.
