FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Dayton softball team battled George Mason for 13 innings on a chilly Saturday afternoon, eventually falling to the host Patriots 4-1 at the George Mason Softball Complex.
Because of inclement weather in the forecast, Dayton and George Mason will complete the series with a double header on Sunday, April 10 starting at 11 a.m. ET.
Scoring BreakdownTop 2nd – After back-to-back singles and a sacrifice bunt, Dayton opened up the scoring thanks to an RBI single from senior
Kennedy Haynes that scored sophomore
Kailee Budicin and gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead.
Bottom 5th – George Mason pulled even at 1-1 thanks to a two-out double in the gap to left center that scored a runner from first.
Bottom 13th – After the first two hitters in the order reached on singles, the Patriots' Jess Middleton launched a three-run home run to left center to win the game 4-1.

Manda Cash threw the first seven innings for the Flyers, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out a career-best 13 batters.
Junior
Gabrielle Snyder inched closer to the all-time doubles record with her first inning two-bagger. She now needs nine to become Dayton's leader.
