WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Dayton softball team started off slow in its run in the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship, falling to No. 3 seed Massachusetts 5-0 on Friday afternoon before taking on Saint Louis and seeing the game suspended after five innings at George Washington University's Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.

Dayton and Saint Louis will conclude the game as Saturday's first matchup, set to begin at 9 a.m.

Scoring Breakdown
TOP 1st – UMass got on the board with an RBI single that scored the first run of the game from second base and made the score 1-0.
TOP 1st – Two more Minutewomen runners came home after a UD error set the table for a two-out base hit that made the score 3-0.
TOP 4th – Massachusetts added another pair of runs, taking advantage of a walk and hit by pitch to expand its lead to 5-0.

Key Stats
Dayton had five hits in the game, two of them coming from senior catcher Kathryn Hess, who went 2-for-3 with a double for the Flyers.
