AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Dayton softball team struggled on the road against the University of Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon, getting swept by the Minutewomen by scores of 4-0 and 7-0 at Sortino Field.
GAME ONE – Massachusetts 4 Dayton 0
Bottom 2nd – With a runner at first, the Minutewomen opened up the scoring for the game with a RBI double to right-center that made the score 1-0.
Bottom 3rd – UMass took advantage of a Dayton error, plating two runs on a double to expand the lead to 3-0.
Bottom 3rd – Massachusetts tacked on one more with an RBI single to swell the lead to 4-0.

Junior
Gabrielle Snyder finished the game 2-for-3 with two singles (and 1-for-3 in Game Two), pushing her season average over the .400 threshold (.404).
GAME TWO – Massachusetts 7 Dayton 0
Bottom 1st – UMass took advantage of an early UD error to plate its first run, and followed it up with an RBI single to make it 2-0.
Bottom 3rd – The Minutewomen expanded their lead by a run thanks to a solo homerun that made the score 3-0.
Bottom 4th – Massachusetts made it a 4-0 lead thanks to a bases loaded walk that brought home a run.
Bottom 6th – Umass added another trio of runs thanks to three singles and a double in the inning, expanding the lead to the final score of 7-0.
Key Stats
Junior
Katie Ryan lead the way for the Flyers offense with a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-3 with a double in Game Two.
Fellow junior
Hannah DeSalvo added a 2-for-3 performance as well.
The back-to-back shutouts was the second time this season the Flyers have gone two straight games without scoring (March 22 & 23 against Wright State).
