NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its 2016 men's soccer preseason poll and all-conference teams on Wednesday.

The University of Dayton was picked to finish second in the conference behind favorites Saint Louis. Both teams received five first-place votes, but the Billikens edged the Flyers on total points 153 to 150. Dayton was projected to finish just ahead of VCU, Rhode Island, and Fordham.

Senior defender Lalas Abubakar earned Preseason All-Conference honors while freshmen Bennett Lehner and Daniel Dos Santos were named to the Preseason All-Rookie Team.

UD was also listed in the NSCAA National Coaches Poll in the preseason, receiving votes.

The Flyers open up the 2016 season on Friday at Cleveland State at 7 p.m. before the home opener Sunday at 3 p.m. vs. Western Michigan.
