DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to host its annual Dayton Invitational Friday and Saturday at Frericks Center. The two-day event features Chattanooga, Northwestern, Xavier and host Dayton. UD will open the weekend with a match against intrastate rival Xavier Friday night at 7 p.m. Admission is free to all six matches schedule for the tournament.
About Dayton
Dayton tacked on another win this past Tuesday after defeating visiting Miami (Ohio), 3-1, to move to an unblemished 4-0 on the season. The Flyers picked up a Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week nod in junior

Margo Wolf from the Atlantic 10 on Monday following a 3-0 weekend at the Wright State Holiday Inn Invitational. UD is led by Erhahon with 3.79 kills/set and 1.07 blocks/set while Wolf passes 6.36 digs/set.
Scouting Xavier
Xavier went 2-1 at Illinois' Illini Classic this past weekend, defeating Missouri State (3-2) and Arkansas (3-1) and falling to host No. 14 Illinois (3-1). The Musketeers' Abbey Bessler was named the Big East Player of the Week Monday and she leads XU with 4.38 kills/set to go along with 2.69 digs/set. Also for Xavier, Meredith Klare is the team's leading passer with 4.00 digs/set and Alexis Newsome collects a team-best 0.85 blocks/set.
Series Stuff
Dayton's most-played opponent all-time, Xavier leads the series between the two, 54-25. But, the Flyers have won the last six meetings including three wins over the Musketeers at home. The last time XU defeated UD at Frericks Center was a 3-0 victory on Nov. 1, 2000.
RPI Rankings
At the end of the 2015 season, Dayton held a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) ranking of 22 according to ncaa.com. Xavier finished up last season at 64 in the RPI.

• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 12 times (2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 10 times (2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 11th NCAA appearance in program history in 2015.
• Over the last seven seasons (2009-2015), the Flyers have recorded a 93-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.

Amber Erhahon posted a career-high 20 kills while hitting at .600 and junior
Jane Emmenecker set 49 assists to go with 13 digs for the team's only double-double of the night. The Flyers recorded 60 kills to the RedHawks' 49 and Dayton out-hit Miami, .237 to .165.
13th to 1,000
With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,059-563 (.653) over 47 seasons (1970).

Amber Erhahon was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and sophomore
Margo Wolf earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week accolades as announced by the conference office on Aug. 29. Erhahon helped lead Dayton to a 3-0 weekend to start the season while averaging 3.30 kills/set and swinging at a .526 clip and Wolf led the Flyers with 5.80 digs/set.
Hausfeld Court
Former Flyer Kacie Hausfeld died tragically in an airplane crash during her time as a Dayton Flyer. In her memory, her family made a substantial contribution to the Dayton volleyball program. That donation enabled the program to renovate Frericks Center, adding a new public address and sound system, new seating on the event level, new scoreboards and video boards and the playing surface was named "Hausfeld Court" among many other improvements to the facility.
UD Picked First in 2016 A-10 Preseason Poll
Dayton has been chosen to finish in first place in the Atlantic 10 for 2016. The Flyers, winners of six of the last seven A-10 titles, tallied 83 points in voting among the league's head coaches (including six of 10 first-place votes). Saint Louis tied Dayton with 83 points, including three first-place votes.

The Flyers claimed four of the five yearly awards given out by the Atlantic 10 in 2015, for the second-consecutive year:
Tim Horsmon - co-Coach of the Year,
Alaina Turner - Player of the Year,
Janna Krafka - Libero of the Year and
Jane Emmenecker - Setter of the Year. This is the second end-of-the-year award for each student-athlete and the third time coach Horsmon (2005, 2014) has been recognized.
