VOLLEYBALL REMAINS UNBEATEN WITH SWEEP OF CHATTANOOGA

Flyers Win Dayton Invitational After 3-0 Weekend at Home

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton volleyball remains unbeaten in 2016 with its 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-20) win over Chattanooga Saturday night at Frericks Center. With the nightcap win, the Flyers claimed the Dayton Invitational title after going 3-0 on the weekend.

Dayton improves to 7-0 on the season while Chattanooga moves to 5-2 overall.

STATS OF THE MATCH
• Freshman Jamie Peterson led the Flyers with a career-high 11 kills while hitting at .556 on the night. Also with double-digit kills was junior Jessica Sloan (10).
• Junior Jane Emmenecker set a match-high 39 assists to go with four digs and two blocks. Junior Laura Hubacek and sophomore Margo Wolf each passed 10 digs for UD.
• As a team, Dayton out-hit Chattanooga .321 to .217 and the Flyers recorded seven team blocks to the Mocs' one.
• Chattanooga was led by Allie Davenport with a match-high 18 kills to go with 10 digs for the match's only double-double.

SET-BY-SET
• Set One: Dayton rattled off six straight points to jump out on Chattanooga 8-4 early in the first set. The Mocs pulled to within one a few times and were able to tie the set at 18-18 after a Miranda Elpers kill. After five more ties, Dayton finally took the set, 25-23, and a 1-0 match lead.
• Set Two: The lead was 6-1 in favor of the Flyers and five again at 10-5 but the Mocs used a 4-1 spurt to cut it to two, 11-9. Chattanooga pulled even at 17-all and the two squads were tied again at 22-all. Dayton scored the final three points of the frame to win it, 25-22.
• Set Three: An Erhahon-Emmenecker block set the score at 6-3 in favor of Dayton and it was 13-7 following a kill from freshman Jamie Peterson. A 4-0 run by the Mocs cut the Flyer lead to three, 20-17, but Dayton closed out the match with a 4-1 run to win the set, 25-20, and the game, 3-0.

UP NEXT
Dayton will travel to Evansville, Indiana, next weekend to participate in the Evansville Tournament. UD will square off against Kent State, Austin Peay and host Evansville during the two-day event, Sept. 9-10.
