Women's Soccer Hosting Two Matches This Week

Flyers Take On Duquesne Thursday And George Washington Sunday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team (7-6-2, 2-2-2 A-10) continues Atlantic 10 action this week with home matches vs. second-place Duquesne (9-3-2, 5-1-0 A-10) Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. ET at Baujan Field. It will be UD's Pink Match. 

• The Flyers host George Washington (9-4-1, 4-2-0 A-10) this Sunday, Oct. 15 at Baujan Field at 1 p.m. ET. The Flyers will celebrate their five seniors prior to the match. The ceremony will begin at 12:50 p.m.

THE SERIES
• Dayton is 16-2-1 all-time vs. Duquesne. The Flyers are 9-1-0 all-time when playing the Dukes at Baujan Field. Duquesne won the last meeting, 2-0, in Pittsburgh on Oct. 27, 2016. Dayton is the defending A-10 Tournament champion and Duquesne won it in 2015 after advancing on PKs in the first round vs. Dayton. After 110 minutes of regulation and two overtimes, the score was tied 1-1. Nicolette Griesinger had an assist in that match. UD outshot the Dukes 37-10. 
• Dayton is 14-3-0 all-time in the series vs. George Washington. The Flyers are 6-1-0 all-time when hosting the Colonials at Baujan Field. UD is on a 14-match winning streak against GW. The last time these two teams met was in the 2016 A-10 Tournament semifinal match on Nov. 4. The Flyers won 2-0 and went on to win the championship. Alexis Kiehl scored both goals in the victory.

FLYER QUICK HITS
Alexis Kiehl recently moved up to fifth all-time at Dayton in goals scored with 42. She passed Lori Davis '88-91. She is three goals from tying Missy Gregg '99-00 in fourth with 45 goals. 
• Seven different Flyers have scored so far this season: Alexis Kiehl (9 goals - leads the A-10), Micayla Livingston (5 goals), Sara Robertson (4 goals), Sidney LeRoy, Caroline Mink, Madeleine Morrissey, and Jordan Pauley have scored one goal each.
Kaelyn Johns has started every game in goal and has 81 saves and seven shutouts this season. Both are second-best in the A-10. Johns has 14 career shutouts, fourth all-time at UD.
Nadia Pestell, Micayla Livingston, and Keagin Collie are tied for ninth in the A-10 in assists with four.
• Head coach Eric Golz is in his first season at the helm of the Flyers. He previously served as an assistant at UD in 2011. 

SCOUTING DUQUESNE
• Duquesne is 9-3-2 overall and 5-1-0 in the A-10, currently in second place in the conference standings. The Dukes are 3-2-1 in road matches this season. 
• After losing their first A-10 match 3-0 to La Salle on Sept. 21, the Dukes have been on a five-match winning streak.
• Junior Katie O'Connor leads Duquesne with six goals. She recently became the all-time leading goal scorer for the Dukes, notching her 22nd career goal in a 2-0 win at Davidson Oct. 8. 
• O'Connor (6 goals, 2 assists) and senior Linnea Faccenda (5 goals, 4 assists) lead Duquesne with 14 points. Faccenda attended the same high school, Downingtown East, as Flyer goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns.
• Junior Kyra Murphy has played every minute in goal for Duquesne and has 80 saves this season, third in the A-10. 
• Lauren Bell has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice this season (Sept. 11 and Oct. 9).

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
• George Washington is 9-4-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the A-10, currently fourth in the conference standings. GW hosts Saint Joseph's Thursday before playing at UD. They are coming off a 1-0 home loss to Saint Louis.
• Junior Sofia Pavon leads the Colonials with seven goals (tied for third in the A-10) and 16 points (sixth in the A-10). 
• Redshirt senior Miranda Horn has 59 saves, a 1.02 GAA and six shutouts this season. 

FLYERS UNDEFEATED AT BAUJAN THIS SEASON 
• Dayton is 5-0 this season at Baujan, outscoring opponents 13-0 with 3-0 wins over Saint Francis (Aug. 27), Marshall (Sept. 1), and Ohio (Sept. 15), and 2-0 wins over George Mason (Sept. 24) and Davidson (Oct. 1). The Flyers scored both goals against the Patriots while being a player down, due to a red card in the 30th minute of the match.

BELIEVIN' IN BAUJAN 
• The Flyers are 223-64-22 all-time in games played at Baujan Field. In the last six years, Dayton is 67-12-7 at home, an astounding .819 winning percentage at Baujan. 

UP NEXT
• Dayton will host Richmond to close out a three-match homestand Thursday, Oct. 19. It is UD's Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night and there will be a picnic for professors.
