HAMDEN, Conn. – The University of Dayton women's basketball team battled back from a late double-digit deficit, but its rally attempt came up just short in a 72-66 loss at Quinnipiac University.
The Flyers (5-2) still look for their first win in a true road contest while the Bobcats (2-3) have only found success at home this season.

Third Quarter – 7:09 mark – Dayton trailed by just three points, 34-31, before Quinnipiac went on a 15-3 run to push the margin to 15 at 49-34.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 11, Quinnipiac 17
- Quinnipiac jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead over Dayton while the Flyers started 0-for-7.
- Senior Jenna Burdette was the first to score for UD with a layup at the 5:14 mark.
- Dayton closed the gap to four at 12-8
- Dayton shot 33.3 percent in the first quarter while Quinnipiac shot 35.3 percent.
- Sophomore Jordan Wilmoth led UD with five points.
- QU outrebounded the Flyers 14-8.

2nd Quarter: Dayton 25, Quinnipiac 29
- Junior Lauren Cannatelli hit two big shots in the early stages of the second quarter to make it a one-point game at 17-16.
- Quinnipiac didn't score until the 7:17 mark with a free throw. The Bobcats' first field goal came at the 6:55 mark.
- At the media break, QU led UD 22-16.
- The Flyers did not score between the 8:20 mark and 3:57 to go in the quarter.
- Dayton ended the skid with four straight free throws by Burdette.
- Wilmoth hit a crucial three and junior Maddy Dennis had a putback in the final minute to take momentum back.
- The Flyers shot 31 percent in the first 20 minutes while the Bobcats shot only 29.4, including 23.5 in the second quarter.
- Wilmoth led the way with eight points.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 37, Quinnipiac 49
- Dayton narrowed the gap to three at 32-29 by the 7:47 mark.
- By the media timeout, Quinnipiac pulled back ahead 38-31.
- The Bobcats got their lead up to double figures at 44-33.
- The Flyers were outscored in the quarter, 20-12.
- UD shot 42.9 percent from the free throw line in the first 30 minutes.
- Wilmoth had a team-high 12 points through three quarters.
4th Quarter: Dayton 66, Quinnipiac 72
- Dayton got a pair of back-to-back three's by Burdette to force Quinnipiac to take a timeout at the 7:07 mark. That made it a 10-point game at 55-45.
- The Flyers got it to seven at 61-54 with 3:43 to play.
- Dayton then inched closer with a bucket and a free throw by Burdette to make it 66-60 with 1:04 to go.
- The Flyers used fouls and missed Bobcat free throws to narrow it to five.
- UD ran out of time though and suffered a six-point loss.
