#UDWBB Falls To No. 23 Green Bay On School Day

The Flyers Had Four Players In Double Figures

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's basketball team battled back against the No. 23 Green Bay Phoenix, but was unable to surmount the early deficit in a 76-64 loss in front of 8,416 Flyers fans.
 
The Flyers (5-3) suffered their first loss at home this season while the Phoenix (7-1) continue their strong campaign.
 
KEY MOMENT
6:32 in the second quarter – The Flyers had pulled within four at 22-18 at the 6:32 mark, but a run by the Phoenix pushed their advantage to double digits by the 4:09 mark.
 
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 12, Green Bay 16
  • Green Bay struck first with a three at the 8:48 mark to open the game.
  • Sophomore Jayla Scaife and senior Jenna Burdette hit a pair of buckets to keep the Flyers with the Phoenix at 5-5.
  • At the media break, Dayton trailed just two at 12-10.
  • The Flyers held the Phoenix in check to a 1-for-10 stretch and a 3:42 field goal drought.

  • Cannatelli and Burdette joined Scaife as double digit scorers in the game.
  • Dayton pulled back within 12 by the media break at 48-36.

  • Dayton narrowed the margin to 14 to start the fourth, forcing a Green Bay timeout, as part of a 6-0 run.
  • The Flyers kept the game around a 12-point margin for the next few minutes as they fought to get back within striking distance of the Phoenix.

  • In the end, the foul game was not enough to get the Flyers on top.
