NEW ORLEANS – The University of Dayton women's basketball team battled the highest ranked team the Flyers have faced all season, but came up just short in the end, 93-87.
 
The Flyers (6-4) suffer their first loss in New Orleans while the Bulls (10-2) reach the double digit win mark.

Final minute of overtime – As the Flyers were searching for their last effort, the Bulls hit a shot and four free throws to hold on.
 
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 20, South Florida 16
	- Dayton started off with an 8-0 run.
 
	- South Florida countered and made it a 15-10 game during a 2:28 Dayton drought.
 
	- The Bull went on a 0-for-6 drought of their own as Dayton extended its lead.
 
	- Senior Jenna Burdette led UD with eight points in the first 10 minutes.
 
	- The Flyers shot 50 percent overall and 4-of-7 from three.
 
 
2nd Quarter: Dayton 38, South Florida 32
	- The Flyers held the Bulls scoreless in the second quarter until the 7:23 mark.
 
	- At the media break, a pair of threes by Burdette and sophomore Lauren Cannatelli gave Dayton the 28-21 lead.
 
	- The Flyers answered the Bulls' runs and stayed at least two possessions ahead throughout the quarter.
 
	- Cannatelli led UD with 12 points in the first half while Burdette added 11.
 
	- Dayton shot 45.5 percent in the first 20 minutes and held USF to 30.6 percent from the field.
 
 
3rd Quarter: Dayton 58, South Florida 47
	- Sophomore Jayla Scaife hit a three to open the third quarter, making it a nine-point game.
 
	- The Bulls went without a field goal for a 3:45 stretch to let UD keep them at bay.
 
	- Dayton ended the third on a 3-for-3 run to lead by double digits, 58-47.
 
	- Scaife was the third Flyer to reach double figures with 13 points. Cannatelli led the way with 17 points.
 
 
4th Quarter: Dayton 76, South Florida 76
	- South Florida cut it to five at 64-59 by the 6:30 mark.
 
	- Dayton went without a field goal for nearly 3:00 as the Bulls rallied.
 
	- UD had a 1-for-8 stretch.
 
	- A three by USF tied the game up at 68-68 with 3:19 on the clock.
 
	- At 1:42, Cannatelli's free throw tied it back up at 72-27 after USF had taken its first lead of the game.
 
	- USF's Laksa scored 16 straight points for the Bulls.
 
	- In the last 30 seconds, Layfield hit a clutch jumper before two defensive stops by the Flyers gave them a chance to tie.
 
	- Scaife drove the lane and hit a contested shot to tie the game up with three seconds left, forcing overtime.
 
Overtime: Dayton 87, South Florida 93
	- Dayton faced a deficit early as USF went ahead by four.
 
	- The Flyers cut it to two at 87-85 with 1:44 to go.
 
	- In the end, the fouls piled up and the Flyers were unable to mount the comeback.
