#UDSB SPLITS SECOND DAY OF GEORGIA CLASSIC

Dayton Downed Northern Kentucky, Tripped Up by 12th-Ranked Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Dayton softball team split its games Saturday on the second day of the 14th Annual Georgia Classic. Following a two-hour-forty-minute mid-game rain delay, Dayton downed Northern Kentucky, 13-6. Immediately following, the Flyers faced the host 12th-ranked Bulldogs, falling 10-2 in six.

Dayton is now 6-3 on the season while Northern Kentucky is 0-3 and Georgia remains perfect at 10-0.

KEY STATS
.857 - sophomore Kyle Davidson went 6-for-7 at the plate today, including three doubles and her first career triple, while also scoring four runs
5.2 - birthday-girl sophomore Jessica Gilliam appeared in both games for the Flyers, tossing a team-high 5.2 innings

Dayton 13, Northern Kentucky 6
Both teams tallied three runs in the first but Dayton was able to bring across one in the second and two more in the third to pull in front of Northern Kentucky, 6-3 after three. The Flyers put up a six-spot in the fourth and were on their way to a run-rule shortened game when the Mother Nature stepped in. UD and NKU suffered through a two-hour-fourty-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fourth inning. Once play resumed, the Norse edged back into the game, plating three more runs by the end of the fifth. Dayton added one run in sixth and held on for the 13-6 win.

#12 Georgia 10, Dayton 2 (6)
The Bulldogs struck early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. Defensively, both teams held through the third but Georgia tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the 5-0 lead. A two-run sixth-inning rally by the Flyers wouldn't be enough as the Bulldogs used a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the frame to end the game.

UP NEXT
Dayton will close out the Georgia Classic Sunday with its second contest of the weekend against the host Bulldogs. UD and UGA will square off at 1:00 p.m. at Jack Turner Softball Stadium.
