JONES AND HENRY LEAD #UDBASE OVER EKU, 3-2

RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Dayton jumped ahead early and held on in the end to defeat Eastern Kentucky 3-2 on Tuesday night at Earle Combs Stadium.

KEY MOMENT
- With the Flyers clinging to a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth, sophomore Tyler Henry got the NCAA leader in home runs to ground out to end the game and secure the victory for UD.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Top 2nd
- Dayton got on the board early, taking advantage of a walk and an error to go along with a Connor Echols leadoff double. When the dust settled in the inning the Flyers held a 3-0 advantage over the Colonels.

Bottom 2nd
- Eastern Kentucky answered back with a single run of their own thanks to a home run by Matt Olive that made the score 3-1.

Bottom 5th
- EKU pulled within a run at 3-2 when Ben Fisher hit his NCAA-leading 18th home run of the season, but would get no closer the rest of the way.

KEY STATS
- Dayton's pitching staff is holding opponents to one run per game in its 11 wins this season.
- Not only did the Flyers' win snap a seven-game winless streak, but the pitching combination of Tyler Jones and Tyler Henry limited the Colonel's to seven hits.
- It was the first time since April 7 against Illinois State that Dayton pitching held its opponent to less than 10 hits in a game.
- The victory for Jones was the first of his collegiate career.
- Henry threw the final 3.2 innings to pick up his second save of the season.
- The left-hander struck out four and only allowed one hit in his outing.
- Sophomore Connor Echols was the only Flyer to notch a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double.
- Echols is now riding a six-game hitting streak, while Nick Ryan, who went 1-for-4 Tuesday night, has upped his streak to four games.
- With a 1-for-4 showing, redshirt freshman Brandon Smith has an on-base streak of 16 games.
