Box Score DAYTON – Dayton men's tennis capped off its weekend with another victory on Sunday, once again by a 6-1 margin, this time over visiting IUPUI. The win advances the Flyers overall record to 2-0 on the season before a pivotal road trip to Richmond, Va. next weekend for a pair of conference matchups against VCU and Richmond. Dayton came out to a hot start by sweeping doubles play over IUPUI. Benjamin/Jener swept the Jaguars tandem of Newis/Budiono, 6-0, before Karl/Rollhauser clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Weaver/Esposito. Senior duo Fisher/Berry also won on court one over Luetscwager/Whittaker by a 6-4 margin.

In singles play, seniors Carsten Fisher and Simon Jayaram earned two quick victories to push Dayton's match lead to 3-0, but IUPUI's Bradley Luetschwager won two hard-fought sets over freshman Theo Jener on No. 4 singles by a line of 7-5, 6-4 to keep the Jaguars in the match. After winning the opening set on court one by a score of 6-1, junior Jordan Benjamin entered a tiebreak on the second set with Jac Newis with the chance to clinch the match for Dayton. Benjamin locked in and won seven consecutive points to shutout Newis and seal the win for the Flyers. Sophomore Steven Karl and senior Zach Berry also won their matches on the day to finish with 2-0 records individually this weekend.

Dayton's next match will be on Friday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. against VCU, and the Flyers will turn around the next day and play Richmond on Saturday, Jan. 27, with matches beginning at 9 a.m. Look below for full results of Sunday's match and interviews from Jordan Benjamin and Steven Karl:
