Women's Soccer To Play Two A-10 Matches This Week

The Flyers Host Defending A-10 Champ La Salle Thursday And At GW Sunday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team (6-6-2 overall, 2-3-1 Atlantic 10) continues conference action at home this Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. vs. La Salle (8-4-1 overall, 3-3-0 A-10) and then hits the road to take on George Washington (8-5-1, 4-2-0 A-10) Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. 
 •  The matches will be broadcast on ESPN+. Ryan Greensfelder and Adam McFetridge of Flyer TV will have the call on the La Salle match. 

HOME MATCH PROMOTIONS
• Athletics has partnered with UD's Health and Wellness Center to host a Mental Health Awareness event prior to the match. The PATH-eligible event will be held at 6 p.m. in Collins Gym. There will be free food for students following the event. 
• Also, fans can bid on each players' pink jerseys until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11. Proceeds will go to help support breast cancer survivors. There will be pink rally towels for the first 125 fans.
• Vuvuzelas to the first 25 fans.
• Thunder sticks for everyone. 

THE SERIES vs. LA SALLE
• Dayton is 17-8-2 all-time vs. La Salle. 
• The last match up resulted in a 3-2 A-10 quarterfinal loss for the Flyers at McCarthy Stadium on Oct. 28, 2017 in Philadelphia. La Salle went on to win the A-10 title. 
• The Flyers are 9-2-1 all-time vs. the Explorers at home. 
• The last time Dayton defeated La Salle was Nov. 9, 2014, a 2-1 victory to claim the A-10 Championship, which was hosted at Baujan Field. 

THE SERIES vs. GEORGE WASHINGTON
• Dayton is 14-4-0 all-time vs. George Washington. 
• The Flyers had a 14-match win streak vs. the Colonials before falling 1-0 last year at home on Oct. 15, 2017. 
• UD is 7-2-0 all-time vs. GW when playing them on the road. 

NEXT MATCHES
• The Flyers will play at Richmond on Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. before returning home for the final regular season match of the season on Sunday, Oct. 21 when the Flyers host UMass at 1 p.m. Dayton's seniors will be honored prior to this match. 

FLYER QUICK HITS
•   The Flyers are 3-1-1 on the road this season, and 2-5-1 in home matches. Two of the home losses came against teams that have been nationally-ranked his season: Louisville was ranked as high as No. 24 and Butler was ranked as high as No. 22. Both of those setbacks were 1-0 losses on own goals. 
•   10 different Flyers have scored goals this season: led by junior Micayla Livingston with five, freshman Izzy Greene with two, and one each for seniors Keagin Collie, Quincy Kellett, and Nadia Pestell, juniors Caroline Mink and Jordan Pauley, sophomores Morgan Henderson and Kara Camarco, and freshman Hannah Osland.
•   10 different Flyers have assists this season led by senior Quincy Kellett's four. 
•    Senior goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns has started 75 matches in her career and has 325 career saves. Her 17.5 career shutouts are fourth all-time at UD. 
• UD has 11 freshmen on its roster this season. 
• Head coach Eric Golz is in his second season at the helm of the Flyers. He previously served as an assistant at UD in 2011. 

SCOUTING LA SALLE
• La Salle is 8-4-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the A-10, and eighth in the conference standings. The Explorers are ranked 166th in the RPI. (Dayton is currently 100th and right behind the Explorers in the A-10 standings). 
• La Salle is the A-10 defending champion.
• Redshirt senior forward Madison Bower leads La Salle with eight goals,  37 shots, and five game-winning goals. Bower and sophomore midfielder Molly O'Brien are tied with 19 points for the 2018 season so far. 
• Sophomore goalkeeper Claudia Jenkins contributed to the Explorer's three-game winning streak with all being shutouts. The sophomore has seen playing time in all 13 matches and holds a 1.03 goal-against average.

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
 • George Washington is 8-5-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the A-10. They are currently seventh in the conference standings and ranked 200th in the latest RPI. 
 • 10 different GW players have scored goals this season, led by Sofia Pavon with five goals, four assists, and three game-winning goals. 
• Anna Tapen leads the Colonials with 70 saves and four shutouts in goal. 

JOHNS ONE OF TOP IN THE NATION
•  UD senior goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns is ranked 10th in the nation in career saves (326) among current active goalkeepers.
•  Johns is ranked third in the nation in career minutes played (6,769).

BELIEVIN' IN BAUJAN 
• The Flyers are 226-71-22 all-time in games played n their home field, Baujan Field. In the last six years, Dayton is 70-19-7 at home. 

WEEK 8 RESULTS 
• The Flyers dropped a 3-1 decision at home to A-10 leading Saint Louis, and then went on the road for a 2-1 victory at Davidson. Micayla Livingston and Jordan Pauley scored vs. the Wildcats. 

HOME SWEET HOME
• Dayton has 10 home matches on its home Baujan Field this season. 
• Baujan Field will be the site of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship semifinals on Nov. 2 and the final on Nov. 4. 

CINCINNATI CONNECTIONS
•  10 Flyers are from the Cincinnati area: senior Sara Robertson, juniors Hanna Merritt, Caroline Mink, Madeleine Morrissey, Alex Powell, sophomores Olivia Brown and Megan Rack, and freshmen Sam Hausser, Lexy Kidd, and Mimi Stines.
