DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will play its final home game of the regular season this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field as the Flyers host VCU for Senior Night.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are 6-5-4 on the year and 2-3-1 in A-10 play, currently sitting just outside the postseason spots in ninth-place. A win Saturday could go a long way in getting UD into the A-10 Tournament, but they face the top-seeded Rams.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 14th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 136 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a young squad this season with 15 newcomers and just two seniors.
The Flyers are scoring 1.13 goals each game and holding opponents to 0.93. UD shoots 14.5 times a contest compared to opposing teams' 11.8 shots each outing. Dayton is 3-2-2 at home this year.
Leading the Flyers is juniors
Daniel Dos Santos (1 goal, three assists) and
Rok Taneski (1 goal, 2 assists). Injuries have affected Dayton's top scorers this season. Goalkeeper
Jack Steele made his first start on Saturday and earned a double overtime victory with six saves.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
VCU
VCU comes to Dayton unbeaten in A-10 play at 5-0-1 in league play and atop the conference standings. The Rams are 9-4-1 on the year and 2-1-1 away from home. Head coach Dave Giffard is in his ninth season at VCU.
The Rams are averaging 1.57 goals per game and giving up just 0.93 to opponents despite being outshot 12.6 to 10.9. VCU is putting 43.8 percent of its shots on target.
Siad Haji leads the A-10 in assists with eight on the season to go with five goals while Jared Green has five goals and two assists on the year. Goalkeeper Mario Sequeria has a 0.98 goals against average with 41 saves and seven shutouts in 13 starts.
THE SERIES

Jacob Degler's game winner in the 110th minute picked up three points.
VCU picked up its second win in a row with a 2-0 victory over George Mason Saturday. The Rams scored both goals in the first half and never looked back as Sequeria recorded the shutout.
